This may look like your average Q45 but what’s under the bonnet of this 1997 Cima is leagues cooler! Powered by a turbocharged VQ30, this Y33 is a hoot to drive and is chock full of a ton of desirable performance and luxury equipment we never received here in the states. Finished in a stately Dark Blue Pearl (4S9), this Gran Turismo is set off by two tone body cladding, gold ornamentation, and some subtle privacy tint. Offered with an appealing 80k verified and documented miles, this Cima is fresh off a recent service and the cosmetics are in above average shape overall save for a few stone chips and dings. These luxury transporters make for fantastic people haulers, road trip cruisers, or VIP show car stunners. In other words, they’re textbook Japanese Classics!
Finished in executive leather and sporting a few desirable extras and options, this Cima’s cockpit is a fine place to be for prospective drivers and passengers alike. The cowhides on the power seats has resisted the past 25 years without succumbing to any major wear and tear, and dual front and side SRS airbags are on hand to please even the most safety conscious passengers. The center stack is trimmed in an attractive woodgrain and features an easy to use touch screen that seamlessly integrates OEM audio and climate control. Atypical of most older displays, the screen shows no fading or distortion and your rear passengers can also control the climate and audio at will from a center armrest mounted control center. The passenger seat features a rear pass through so your rear occupants can relax to the max, and the rear bench even power reclines for optimal comfort. This isn’t your average 90’s Nissan! Power windows, locks, and electric folding side mirrors work like a charm and an electronic adjustable steering column tilts and telescopes at your command. The driver benefits from a power bucket seat and an electric tilt and telescoping steering column. Head and legroom is abundant, and the truck has oodles of cargo space for your groceries or luggage. That’s not to say the cabin is perfect, as the leather does show some light stress cracking from daily use. We’ve even retained the owner’s manual and a wild set of factory carpet mats to keep your upholstery clean beneath!
Don’t let the conservative styling fool you, this Y33 Cima is a sports car in disguise. That’s all thanks to the VQ30DET under the hood, and ours is fresh off a recent service in house, where we dropped in a new 12v battery to aid ignition. We wanted to leave no oil leak unaddressed, so we replaced the rear main seal and front main seal, and oil pan gasket before topping everything up with a fresh oil and filter service. A new engine air filter was also installed to keep the 3.0 breathing freely. With the maintenance performed, this VQ rockets up to highway speeds and acceleration is potent, to say the least. The automatic gearbox does a great job at throwing power rearward and we replaced some rear toe arms and a right inner and outer tie rod to keep the drivetrain in compliance. The luxury spirit shines through over rougher roads and the cabin is well insulated against larger road imperfections. The ABS brakes grab with force, the factory alloys are wrapped in healthy Bridgestone rubber, and we performed a fresh alignment to keep this executive saloon tracking straight for tens of thousands of miles to come!
