Toyota Chaser for sale
Chaser listings cover X80 (1988-1992), X90 (1992-1996), and X100 (1996-2001) generations, a JDM-only rear-wheel-drive sedan produced alongside the sister-model Mark II and Cresta on the same platform — the JZX90 and JZX100 chassis are shared across all three nameplates. The Tourer V trim carries the turbocharged 1JZ-GTE; the Tourer S carries the naturally-aspirated 1JZ-GE. X100 Chaser Tourer V production ended in 2001, marking the close of the 1JZ-GTE platform in a practical four-door body. Earliest X80 models became US-eligible under the 25-year rule in 2013; the X100 range becomes eligible from 2021 onward.

About the Toyota Chaser
The Toyota Chaser ran from 1977 to 2001 as a JDM-exclusive variant of the shared Mark II / Cresta platform, a rear-wheel-drive mid-size sedan marketed alongside its sister models with a sportier exterior identity. The X80 generation (1988-1992) introduced the 1G-GTE twin-cam turbo in GT Twin Turbo trim; the X90 (1992-1996) established the 1JZ-GTE as the Chaser's performance engine; the X100 (1996-2001) refined the formula without materially changing it.
The X100 Chaser Tourer V carries the 1JZ-GTE 2.5L straight-six twin-turbo at 280ps (the domestic ceiling agreed among Japanese manufacturers), mated to a five-speed W58 manual or four-speed automatic. Tourer S substitutes the naturally-aspirated 1JZ-GE at 180ps. Grande and Raffine trims in X100 are comfort-oriented; Grande G uses the 2JZ-GE. The X100 shares front suspension geometry with the Supra JZA70/JZA80 and the Cresta / Mark II of the same generation.
X80 models became US-eligible from 2013; X90 from 2017; X100 progressively from 2021 through 2026 depending on build date. Factory 280ps output is unchanged on exported examples. No detuning occurred for the domestic market. Right-hand drive throughout. Pre-purchase inspection of the turbocharger oil feed line and intercooler condition is advisable on higher-mileage examples. The Tourer V's 1JZ-GTE shares aftermarket support with the Mark II and Cresta of the same generation.
