Description
A popular saloon with a drivetrain that's good as gold, this Japanese Classic nearly sells itself! For being 25 years old, the interior has held up well and is significantly more stylish than the drab sedans we received in the US market. The striped cloth bucket seats are decidedly modern, and safety is a top priority thanks to dual front and side SRS airbags. Driver comfort is also second to none, as both a tilt and telescoping steering column are on hand, and the climate control features oscillating vents to keep all passengers happy. For the blistering summer months the A/C blows ice cold…

and hot heat isn’t too far behind if you need it. Sadly, the adjacent audio system has a hardware error, which is easily mitigated by installing a USDM radio of your choice. The dash cover shows well, avoiding fading or common areas of distortion or peeling that commonly plague these models. Aiding daily use, power windows, locks, and power folding side mirrors are available within arms reach, and the accessory switches are trimmed in a stylish faux carbon finish to boot. The rear seats are plenty spacious, as is the trunk, which rivals most full size luxury saloons. The headliner is clean, and the carpets have been protected by a set of plush factory mats. As a whole, we’d consider this cockpit to be in above average condition, and even the pickiest pilots should feel good about adding this to their fleet! The chassis is solid, but the drivetrain is where the real desirability kicks in on this Tourer V. Powered by the legendary 1JZ-GTE, this Chaser fires up with the twist of a key thanks to a new 12v battery we installed here at the shop. Toyota enthusiasts rejoice, we took care of an extensive preventative service, and performed a timing belt and water pump service. While we had the engine torn down, new camshaft seals were installed, as well as a new front main seal. We buttoned everything up with fresh valve cover gaskets, and flushed in new coolant after replacing the thermostat. A new engine air filter and fuel filter give the 2.5T a basic tune up, and with the maintenance performed she shoots up to highway speeds in a jiffy. In stock form, the 2.5 turbo is a rewarding drive in itself and the automatic gearbox makes quick work of transferring power to the rear wheels. New aftermarket coilovers close up the gap between tire and fender, and to keep the suspension safety compliant we also installed new front lower control arm bushings. The steering is light, and the ABS brakes are bolstered by new front pads and rotors if you need to come to an abrupt stop. The alloys are wrapped in brand new tires. Knee deep in tread, and fresh off a four wheel alignment, this Chaser has you covered to really maximize smiles per gallon!
