About the Subaru Sambar TV1

The Subaru Sambar is Subaru's kei-class commercial vehicle line, produced across KS/KV (1990-1999), TT/TV/TW (1999-2012), and the Daihatsu-sourced S321/S331-based generation from 2012. All Subaru-built generations use the EN07 660cc four-stroke four-cylinder, a departure from the earlier two-stroke design of the original Sambar. The TT2 Sambar Truck (flat-bed) and TV2 Van (enclosed panel van) are the configurations most commonly imported for agricultural and light work applications in North America.

The EN07Y supercharged variant, fitted in Dias Wagon and upper TT/TV trim levels, provides approximately 47ps versus the naturally-aspirated EN07's 40ps, a proportionally significant difference in a vehicle with a curb weight under 800kg. Four-wheel drive is available across most body styles and was specified frequently in JDM markets for agricultural use. Sambar Dias is the passenger-configured wagon body with windows on all sides and an optional rear climate unit, distinct from the cargo-focused TV Van. Supercharged Dias with 4WD is among the more sought-after import configurations.

KS/KV generation from 1990 is US-eligible. TT/TV/TW from 1999 entered eligibility from 2024 onward. Right-hand drive. In North American farm and rural markets, the JDM kei truck serves as a low-speed utility vehicle. Verify state and local regulations for on-road versus off-road classification before purchasing. EN07 parts availability has improved as import volume has grown; specialist distributors in the US and Canada now stock common wear items. The post-2012 S321/S331 generation is a rebadged Daihatsu Hijet mechanically.
