How we measure sold prices and buyer demand

The “Market & demand” panel on each guide summarises what JDMBUYSELL sellers report. This page says exactly what is counted.

Sold prices

Figures come from listings that a seller marked sold on JDMBUYSELL, over the last 48 months. The price is the seller-reported sold price, not a verified transaction or auction hammer price. We show the median, the middle half of sales (P25–P75), the typical days from listing to sale, and the dates of the earliest and latest sale in the sample.

Small samples

A median needs at least 3 reported sales; with fewer, the panel says so instead of showing one. A trend line needs at least two periods with 5 or more sales each; otherwise the panel shows each period’s range. A generation with no reported sales shows an empty state, not a blank space.

Japan versus outside Japan

When enough sales exist (5 or more in the pool and in the period), the sample is split by the seller’s country on the listing. This is a proxy for where the car was listed, not a verified vehicle location, and “outside Japan” does not mean North America or prove import or compliance status.

Buyer inquiries

An inquiry is a distinct buyer-to-seller conversation referencing a listing for that generation. The panel shows the last 26 weeks and compares the last 30 days with the 30 days before.

Generations and data slugs

Some guides cover a generation that listings store under a related code (for example the Honda Acty HA7 guide reads listings stored as HA6). The panel reports the code the figures were read from in the data file.

Data and citation

Every panel links its raw JSON at /api/market-data/<make>/<model>/<generation>.json. The page’s figures are rendered when the guide is built and refreshed in your browser from that file; the “Cite this data” line carries the as-of date of the figures shown.
