R32 Skyline (1989-1994). GT-R BNR32 (RB26DETT, twin-turbo, AWD), GTS-T HCR32 (RB20DET, rear-wheel-drive), GTS-4 HNR32 (RB20DE, AWD), and GTS naturally-aspirated coupe or sedan. The BNR32 was the first production Skyline GT-R since the Hakosuka, introducing the RB26DETT and ATTESA-ETS AWD combination. V-Spec and N1 are limited-production BNR32 variants. About the Nissan Skyline R32
The R32 Skyline GT-R debuted in 1989, the first production Skyline GT-R since the Hakosuka KPGC10 of 1972, after a 17-year absence. Development was directed at Group A touring car homologation: the BNR32 required 500 examples to qualify, and Nissan proceeded to win 29 consecutive Japan Touring Car Championship rounds between 1990 and 1993. The BNR32 introduced the RB26DETT 2.6L twin-turbo straight-six and ATTESA-ETS all-wheel drive as the GT-R's standard mechanical package.
BNR32 variants include the standard, V-Spec (active LSD at rear, NISMO lower springs, 17-inch BBS wheels replacing the standard 16-inch Enkei), and N1 (homologation spec: no air conditioning, no radio, revised RB26DETT, N1 suspension calibration). The GTS-T HCR32 is the rear-wheel-drive non-GT-R coupe carrying the RB20DET; the GTS-4 adds the ATTESA system with the naturally-aspirated RB20DE. Sedan variants (HR32, ER32) use non-turbo straight-six engines and are less commonly imported.
All R32 variants are fully US-eligible under the 25-year FMVSS exemption: 1989 models cleared in 2014, and the full production run was legal by 2019. Right-hand drive. The RB26DETT in BNR32 uses smaller turbines than later BCNR33/BNR34 castings; the same aftermarket hardware fits but factory output (206kW) differs from later claimed re-ratings. Odometers are in kilometres. The V-Spec's active LSD requires dedicated differential oil at 1.0 viscosity; standard gear oil is not compatible.
