Under 49 CFR 591.5(i)(1), the US exemption applies when a vehicle is at least 25 years old. The exact manufacture date, rather than its model year alone, controls that calculation. In 2026, model year 2001 and earlier is a planning cutoff for Subaru Forester; confirm the individual vehicle's manufacture date and import requirements before purchase. 7 of the 24 active Subaru Forester listings are at or before that model-year planning cutoff.

5 of the 24 active Subaru Forester listings are listed with a manual transmission.

Subaru Forester imports are sourced from exporters in Japan. Beyond the purchase price, importing from Japan adds ocean freight, import duty, and destination-country compliance to the landed cost.
