About the Nissan Stagea WC34

The Stagea WC34 was produced from 1996 to 2001 as a JDM-only estate wagon built on the R33 Skyline's BCNR33/ECR33 platform, sharing front subframe geometry, engine bay proportions, and suspension pickup points. The concept (R33 rear-wheel-drive platform with a practical wagon body) resulted in a vehicle with GT-R-chassis dynamics in a family-capable form. Standard WC34 trims ran the RB25DE naturally-aspirated or RB25DET turbocharged straight-six in RS FOUR, RS, and 25t S Four designations.

The 260RS Autech is a factory-limited WC34 variant produced by Autech Japan (a Nissan subsidiary), carrying the RB26DETT from the BNR33 GT-R with ATTESA-ETS all-wheel drive transferred from the GT-R chassis. Production is cited at approximately 1,000 units. The 260RS uses the same turbochargers, intake manifold, and engine internals as the BCNR33 but is detuned to 260ps for the wagon application. The WC34's front subframe compatibility with the BCNR33 is the technical basis for the R34 GT-R subframe swaps documented in the modification community.

The M35 Stagea (2001-2007) shifted to the Nissan FM platform with VQ35DE and VQ25DET V6 powertrains, maintaining RWD and AWD options while moving away from the RB-series GT-R lineage. WC34 models from 1996 are US-eligible; M35 from 2001 enters eligibility from 2026 onward. Both generations are right-hand drive. The RB25DET in non-Autech WC34 trims shares engine-code and aftermarket support with the ECR33 GTS25t. Differential oil in the ATTESA transfer case requires the Nissan-specified grade.
