Quick answer
The Toyota Chaser pages here cover three Japanese-market generations: the X80 (on sale August 1988), the X90 (October 1992) and the X100 (September 1996, production ended June 2001). The Tourer V used a 280 PS (net) 1JZ-GTE, as a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic.
Background
The Toyota Chaser pages here cover the X80, X90 and X100 generations in Japan, on sale from August 1988 until production ended in June 2001. In August 1990 Toyota made the 2.5-litre 1JZ engines the main engines in place of the 2.0-litre. The Tourer V, a 280 PS (net) 1JZ-GTE grade, is covered on the JZX90 and JZX100 pages.
The X90 launched in October 1992 with a Tourer V: a twin-turbo 1JZ-GTE rated at 280 PS (net), as a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic.
The X100 Tourer V, from September 1996, kept the 280 PS rating but changed from twin turbos to a single turbo. The 2.5- and 3.0-litre engines had VVT-i from the X100's introduction. Toyota's X100 records again list a five-speed manual and a four-speed automatic.
The Tourer S used a naturally aspirated 1JZ-GE, rated at 180 PS in the X90 and 200 PS in the X100 (Toyota's X100 table and catalogue say 200 PS; its heritage narrative says 180 PS). It carries the same JZX90 or JZX100 code as the Tourer V, so check the grade and the engine code.

Identification
Generation names are broad families. The factory chassis codes below identify the variants represented in JDMBUYSELL's current Toyota Chaser guide data.
Confirm the complete code on the vehicle's frame or VIN plate; drivetrain, body, and market variants can use different prefixes within one generation family.
Market
Toyota's 1977 announcement said the Chaser was for the domestic market only. The X80, X90 and X100 pages here use Toyota Japan's own catalogue and history pages, so they describe Japanese-market specifications. Toyota gives its historical output figures as net values (PS). For the US, the federal age exemption is 25 years from each car's build date. EPA's older-vehicle provision judges an engine swap on whether the engine is the same model and configuration as the original. Canada's older-vehicle exclusion is 15 years, judged from the month and year of manufacture.

Editorial
A Tourer V in the JZX90 or JZX100 was listed by Toyota with a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic, so check which gearbox a car has. The JZX90 Tourer V has twin turbos. The JZX100 Tourer V has a single turbo and VVT-i.
The Tourer S shares the JZX90 and JZX100 codes but has a naturally aspirated engine, so confirm the grade and the engine code.
