Quick answer
The Nissan Caravan guides here cover two Japanese generations. The E24 was introduced in September 1986 and the E25 went on sale on 14 May 2001; Nissan labels them 1986–2001 and 2001–2012. Both were sold as commercial vans and passenger Coaches, and their engines depend on body and date.
Background
The Nissan Caravan is a Japanese one-box commercial van that was also sold as a passenger Coach and a microbus. This guide covers two generations: the E24, introduced in Japan in September 1986, and the E25, on sale from 14 May 2001. Nissan labels them 1986–2001 and 2001–2012. Earlier and later generations have no guide here.

Constants
Chassis history
Dates are Nissan's Japanese introduction and sale-start dates. Nissan's generation labels are not exact build ranges, and each generation page has its own tables.
Identification
Generation names are broad families. The factory chassis codes below identify the variants represented in JDMBUYSELL's current Nissan Caravan guide data.
Confirm the complete code on the vehicle's frame or VIN plate; drivetrain, body, and market variants can use different prefixes within one generation family.

Market
These guides describe Japanese-market Caravans from Nissan's own pages and dated Japanese catalogues. Export-market versions need their own evidence for engines, emissions systems and passenger classification and are not described here.

Editorial
Pick the generation by the car's own build date and plate code. The E24 and E25 differ in engines, grades and body types, and within each generation the specification changed by date: the E24 in June 1999, the E25 in September 2002 and August 2007. Read the matching generation page for the dated tables, recalls and import notes. For the US, age is judged per car and EPA expects the original-design engine or a certified replacement; Canada counts 15 years from the manufacture month and treats buses and staged conversions separately.
