About the Honda Accord
The CL7 Accord Euro R (2002-2008) carries the K20A 2.0L naturally-aspirated engine at 220ps, a close-ratio six-speed gearbox, and a Torsen limited-slip differential, equipment not offered in the North American Accord lineup of the same generation, which used the K24A 2.4L (CL9) or V6 alternatives. The Euro R trim was developed for the JDM and some European markets. Honda's domestic Accord sedan was consistently more driver-focused than its global equivalents during this era.
Other JDM Accord generations appearing in the marketplace include the CF8 SiR and CF4 SiR-T (1997-2002) in sedan and estate bodies, the CF4 carrying the F20B twin-cam naturally-aspirated, and the CL9 (2002-2008) using the K24A 2.4L. The CU JDM Accord (2008-2013) is a Japan-exclusive model distinct from the ninth-generation Accord sold in North America; it uses the K24Z4 and R18A engines. CU-spec interior and safety equipment differs from the global Accord despite similar exterior styling.
CF-generation Accord from 1997 is US-eligible. CL7/CL9 from 2002 enters eligibility from 2027. CU from 2008 enters eligibility from 2033. Right-hand drive throughout. The K20A in the CL7 Euro R is calibrated differently from the export K20A2 (RSX Type-S). Higher compression and revised cam timing account for the 20ps output difference. Pre-purchase odometer verification and K20A engine condition inspection are advisable given the collector premium on low-mileage CL7 Euro R examples.
