This 1997 JDM Forester is a low mileage beast we’re excited to introduce to the US shores. These vehicles are among the best selling models for Subaru and for good reason. They were built to get groceries and haul the family by weekday, and tackle mountains by weekend. Subaru ensured these vehicles were up to the task with plenty of ground clearance and a legendary EJ20 to push the AWD drivetrain forward. The exterior of this forester is finished in a beautiful Green metallic duotone, and it looks superb on this example. With a classic look, this forester needed no addition, and does not have any exterior modifications tainting its purity. The Bridgestone tires have plenty of life left in them, and are wrapped around gorgeous 17 inch Eco Forme wheels. It’s hard to miss the roof rails mounted up top which are period correct “RFRB” (Run Fast Run Beautiful) load bars and matching RFRB ski mounts. No notable exterior imperfections are worth mentioning, and it just goes to show how well the previous owner took care of this vehicle over in Japan. All 4 iconic Subaru borderless windows still seal properly and function without a hitch. On the inside of this gorgeous forester, a blue and gray exterior shows itself in pristine condition. The blue patterned cloth seats are still durable as ever, as the bolsters show no sagging, and there are no tears front or rear. The rear headrests are missing however, but this provides excellent visibility out of the rear. The dash is also in great condition showing only minimal signs of sun exposure. Air conditioning blows ice cold, and heating works perfectly. On the floor the whole vehicle is outfitted with all weather mats making it a perfect option for any driving condition. The infotainment tells us a lot about what we expect the use of the vehicle in the past was. Very minor and thoughtful additions of a Panasonic CN-R300D Touchscreen Head unit w/ Nav (for Japan) paired with a Panasonic CY-ET906D “ETC” Media reader. Both are paired up to a manual switch to power them to ensure that the battery is not drained by this aftermarket system. Our guess is that with the Nav and Media additions being the only modifications to this vehicle aside from the RFRB mounts up top mean that this was a weekend warrior for vacations or short trips. Short trips of course, because this Forester has only 73,133 original kilometers on the odometer. That is just 45,442 official miles! As you’d expect the powertrain still performs healthily thanks to a well maintained EJ20 under the hood. Perhaps our favorite thing about this Subaru is that it is paired to a very well functioning 5 speed transmission! The AWD Drivetrain ensures along with the other creature comfort features this forester offers, that any adventure is within the capability of this versatile machine. With a fresh service under its belt, this Right-Hand-Drive JDM 1997 Subaru Forester is ready to take on what you’ve got planned for it!
