Toyota Aristo Jzs161 for sale

Aristo listings cover S147 (1991-1997) and S160 (1997-2005). The JDM-market counterpart to the Lexus GS300 and GS400/GS430. The S147 uses the 2JZ-GE (naturally-aspirated) or 2JZ-GTE (twin-turbo) in the V300 trim. The S160 continued the 2JZ-GTE in V300 Vertex and V300 Vertex Edition variants. The Aristo nameplate is JDM-only; no direct export equivalent exists for the V300 specification. S147 models from 1991 are US-eligible; S160 models from 1997 enter eligibility from 2022 onward. Both generations are right-hand drive.

History & specs

About the Toyota Aristo Jzs161

The Toyota Aristo occupied an unusual domestic position, mechanically identical to the Lexus GS300 (S147) and GS430 (S160) sold in global markets but offered under the Toyota badge in Japan with JDM-exclusive trim levels, different pricing structure, and the Aristo nameplate that did not carry over to the export Lexus lineup. The V300 trim, available in both S147 and S160 generations, carries the 2JZ-GTE twin-turbo at 280ps (the JDM domestic ceiling) rather than the naturally-aspirated 2JZ-GE in base and V200 variants.

The S160 Aristo V300 Vertex Edition is a factory-tuned variant with Bilstein shock absorbers, larger Brembo brakes, close-ratio six-speed manual, and revised suspension geometry. The 2JZ-GTE in V300 specification is the same engine family as the Supra JZA80 RZ/SZ-R and the Chaser/Mark II Tourer V. The factory 280ps figure understates actual output, and the engine has documented tolerance for significantly higher boost levels with fuel system and intercooler support. The Aristo's factory fuel and intercooler specifications differ from the JZA80 and require separate calibration at elevated boost.

S147 models from 1991 are US-eligible under the 25-year rule. S160 from 1997 enters eligibility from 2022 onward. Right-hand drive. The 2JZ-GTE in exported Aristo examples is the JDM-specification drivetrain; no detuning was applied. The Aristo nameplate was retired when production ended in 2005. Pre-purchase turbocharger condition and oil cooler inspection are advisable on higher-mileage V300 examples. Japanese dismantler networks provide good parts availability for both S147 and S160 generations.
