The T30 is a compact SUV built on a platform shared with the Almera and Primera, offered in Japan with QR20DE 2.0L four-cylinder or QR25DE 2.5L powertrains; a JDM-exclusive X-Trail GT variant added the SR20VET turbocharged 2.0L producing 280 PS (206 kW) from 2001, discontinued when Japan's 2005 emissions regulations took effect. The T31 continued with QR25DE and diesel options for non-JDM markets. T30 models from 2000 are US-eligible under the 25-year rule; T31 models from 2007 enter eligibility from 2032 onward.
