Smart buyer checklist

Treat this as two groups. Required items protect you from payment loss and fraud — if a seller resists any of them, walk away. Ideal items help you assess the car's condition; when one is missing, factor it into your risk and your offer rather than treating it as automatic fraud.

Requiredfraud and payment-loss prevention

  • Confirm title status. Clean, salvage, rebuilt, or no title — and the title's jurisdiction — should be clear before you wire.
  • Confirm the car is importable to your location. That's your homework, not the seller's; if the import path is unclear, step back and verify before paying.
  • Read the bill of sale before you wire. "As-is" with no warranty is normal; anything that removes inspection or payment protections is a red flag.
  • Use a third-party escrow service; never wire to a personal account. For dealer sales, a wire to the business account named on the invoice is normal; for private-party sales, use escrow.

Idealvehicle-condition diligence; factor missing items into risk and price

  • Ask for the export certificate. If the car was exported from Japan recently, the deregistration document can help confirm provenance and timing. If unavailable: certificates for older imports are often filed away, so absence is a risk signal, not automatic fraud.
  • Ask for underbody, engine bay, and rear-quarter photos. Those areas reveal rust and repair work that hero shots can hide.If unavailable: the car may still be in transit or storage; review existing media and ask for fresh shots once it's accessible.
  • Consider a third-party pre-purchase inspection (PPI). A specialist inspection can catch issues that change the price. If unavailable: a PPI is often not feasible while the car is still overseas, so price the added uncertainty instead of treating it as proof of fraud.

and verified by our team before listing. A/C blows cold. Everything works. The C-Type is the better-equipped Majesta specification. Head-up display. OEM rear fridge. Reclining rear seats with shade. Rear A/C and air purifier. OEM passenger-side trash bin, which is exactly the kind of detail that tells you this car was designed for someone whose time was too valuable to look for somewhere to put a receipt. Premium sound system. 6-disc CD changer. Swing vents. Cruise control. 5-speed automatic transmission. The car is white over grey, 84,620 miles (136,165 km), and in excellent shape throughout. This is a Majesta that has been properly maintained and presents exactly as it should for its age. Mileage: 84,620 miles (136,165 km). Fuel economy: approximately 20 MPG city / 27 MPG highway / 23 MPG combined based on 2JZ-FSE real-world data. Interesting Facts The Crown Majesta sat above the Crown Royal Saloon in Toyota’s JDM hierarchy. Where the Royal Saloon was the choice of senior management and government officials, the Majesta was aimed at buyers who wanted something closer to a Lexus LS in character but preferred the Crown nameplate. The C-Type specification was the entry point into Majesta ownership and included most of the equipment found on higher trims. The head-up display fitted to this Majesta projected speed and navigation information onto the windshield, allowing the driver to read essential information without looking away from the road. In 2000, this was a premium feature found primarily in high-end Japanese domestic vehicles and a handful of European luxury cars. The 2JZ-FSE uses Toyota’s D-4 direct injection system, one of the first high-pressure direct injection gasoline systems in a production Japanese sedan. The same 2JZ block family underpins the turbocharged 2JZ-GTE used in the Supra and is widely regarded as one of the most durable inline-six architectures Toyota ever produced. The OEM rear trash bin on the passenger side of this Majesta is a detail that reflects the level of thought Toyota put into the rear-seat experience. Every surface, every pocket, every storage solution was considered for a passenger who would spend significant time in that seat. The Toyota Crown Majesta has never been officially sold in the United States. This example qualifies for legal import under the federal 25-year exemption rule. Long before opening our location in the United States, our team was importing and servicing these vehicles in Europe when many of them were still new. Because of that experience, we know these platforms extremely well. Every model has its own weak points, and we inspect and address them before the vehicle is offered for sale. All vehicles are serviced at our facility in Japan before shipping. Fluids, belts, filters, batteries, and common failure points are inspected and replaced when necessary. Unlike many dealerships, we actually drive our vehicles. They don’t sit in a parking lot. Our trucks and cars are used regularly so we can verify reliability before they reach their new owner. When you buy from us, you’re getting a vehicle that is fully prepared and ready to drive from day one. JP-TRADE is our first location in the United States, supported by a team of more than 40 people across Europe, Japan, Korea, China, and the U.S. If you made it this far, here is a little bonus for you. Why did someone put a V8 badge on an inline-six Majesta? In Japan in the late 1990s and early 2000s, the V8 badge carried a specific kind of status. The Crown Majesta with the actual 1UZ-FE V8 was a more expensive and less common configuration. The 2JZ-FSE six-cylinder version was the accessible Majesta. Somewhere along the way, a previous owner decided that the car looked and drove well enough to wear the V8 emblem anyway. It is not a deception. Anyone who knows what a 2JZ sounds like knows immediately what is under the hood.

Asking-price context

JDMBUYSELL comparison data for this Toyota Majesta; the basis line states the exact pool used.

Figures are shown in your selected display currency, and fall back to USD when live rates are unavailable. Active asking-price pools use current active listings, not verified sale prices or an appraisal. For sold pools: sale price when reported; otherwise, the listing’s last asking price. Samples of fewer than 5 comparable listings are not shown. Lighter shading means fewer examples, not higher precision. Source: JDMBUYSELL listing data.
