Smart buyer checklist

Treat this as two groups. Required items protect you from payment loss and fraud — if a seller resists any of them, walk away. Ideal items help you assess the car's condition; when one is missing, factor it into your risk and your offer rather than treating it as automatic fraud.

Requiredfraud and payment-loss prevention

  • Confirm title status. Clean, salvage, rebuilt, or no title — and the title's jurisdiction — should be clear before you wire.
  • Confirm the car is importable to your location. That's your homework, not the seller's; if the import path is unclear, step back and verify before paying.
  • Read the bill of sale before you wire. "As-is" with no warranty is normal; anything that removes inspection or payment protections is a red flag.
  • Use a third-party escrow service; never wire to a personal account. For dealer sales, a wire to the business account named on the invoice is normal; for private-party sales, use escrow.

Idealvehicle-condition diligence; factor missing items into risk and price

  • Ask for the export certificate. If the car was exported from Japan recently, the deregistration document can help confirm provenance and timing. If unavailable: certificates for older imports are often filed away, so absence is a risk signal, not automatic fraud.
  • Ask for underbody, engine bay, and rear-quarter photos. Those areas reveal rust and repair work that hero shots can hide.If unavailable: the car may still be in transit or storage; review existing media and ask for fresh shots once it's accessible.
  • Consider a third-party pre-purchase inspection (PPI). A specialist inspection can catch issues that change the price. If unavailable: a PPI is often not feasible while the car is still overseas, so price the added uncertainty instead of treating it as proof of fraud.

Apex Silver (A31), this TX Limited is set off by Berg CV928 alloys, an OEM bashbar, and a set of subtle OEM rainguards. Aside from a noted front passenger fender replacement in Japan, the body is in good nick overall. Ready to be daily driven, this safe and spacious Land Cruiser would make for a killer kid hauler, weekend warrior, or bombastic beachcomber. A Japanese Classic down to its off-road DNA, this lovable Landy won’t last long! The cabin is expansive, has room for eight, and is nicely optioned. Access inside is made seamless courtesy of the factory keyless entry. Drivers of all sizes will enjoy the adjustable steering column and power folding mirrors, electric locks, and electric windows all work, in typical Toyota fashion, making daily use more enjoyable. The center stack is close by and within arm’s reach. The A/C and heat controls are on the bottom, and the system is intuitive to operate. Both heating and cooling work like a charm, and an automatic setting is handy to have. Above, a large touchscreen Pioneer audio system resides. Hands-free Bluetooth integration keeps your eyes on the road ahead, and the sound quality is decent for a vehicle of this age. The dashboard lacks any cracking or fading. Dual SRS airbags are standard, and a massive OEM field monitor keeps those up front abreast about the outside conditions should cell service be lost. The gray and blue cloth seats are soft to the touch and lack any major rips, holes, or tears. The middle row slides forward, and the rear jump seats can conveniently tuck away against the D-pillar. The door cards are in good nick, as are the carpet and headliner, and as a whole its heard to critique this cabin. Body on frame and built to last, this Land Cruiser is one tough hombre. The same can be said for its intercooled and direct-injected engine, the 1KD-FTV. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 3.0L churns to life promptly courtesy of a new 12V battery. A new engine air filter and fuel filter were installed as soon as it got on the lift! To keep all that fresh oil internal to the four banger, one of our trained techs replaced the weary old valve cover gasket with a new one. The 1KD is linked to a stout automatic gearbox that sends power to all four wheels through a full time 4WD system. It shifts like a champ, and when you plan to go off-road, a low range and center locker can be engaged. The driveline has been bolstered by a new driver front axle seal, and we have also refreshed the suspension a good bit. The front lower control arms were replaced, as were the inner tie rods. It rides soft yet feels predictable, and a fresh alignment keeps this rig tracking straight as an arrow. When you need to slow down, ABS is standard, and the large four-wheel disc brakes feel confident. The power steering is easy to articulate and on point, and grip is handled by four new 31′′ Falken tires. The new rubber looks mean, quiets road noise, and will last for tens of thousands of miles to come.

Asking-price context

JDMBUYSELL comparison data for this Toyota Land Cruiser Prado; the basis line states the exact pool used.

Figures are shown in your selected display currency, and fall back to USD when live rates are unavailable. Active asking-price pools use current active listings, not verified sale prices or an appraisal. For sold pools: sale price when reported; otherwise, the listing’s last asking price. Samples of fewer than 5 comparable listings are not shown. Lighter shading means fewer examples, not higher precision. Source: JDMBUYSELL listing data.
