Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 3RZ-FE whirrs to life courtesy of a new 12v battery, and a new engine air cleaner allows the four-banger to breathe freely. A set of spark plugs was installed so that fuel could be properly atomized, and a new muffler was installed so that the 3RZ sounds decent. A coolant flush was performed so that the engine was up to handling the thermal load and the powerplant feels healthy. It’s mated to a stout automatic gearbox that sends power to both axles courtesy of a full-time 4WD system. To ensure power gets to the ground, a new driver-side rear axle seal was replaced. For off-roading, a center locker and low-range 4WD are on hand, but we realize most will keep this on pavement. One of our trained techs also heavily refreshed the suspension with new front shocks, front lower control arms, front lower ball joints, and front swaybar links. It rides comfortably and the long wheelbase distributes large and small potholes alike. To slow down, ABS and four-wheel disc brakes are standard.
