Smart buyer checklist

Treat this as two groups. Required items protect you from payment loss and fraud — if a seller resists any of them, walk away. Ideal items help you assess the car's condition; when one is missing, factor it into your risk and your offer rather than treating it as automatic fraud.

Requiredfraud and payment-loss prevention

  • Confirm title status. Clean, salvage, rebuilt, or no title — and the title's jurisdiction — should be clear before you wire.
  • Confirm the car is importable to your location. That's your homework, not the seller's; if the import path is unclear, step back and verify before paying.
  • Read the bill of sale before you wire. "As-is" with no warranty is normal; anything that removes inspection or payment protections is a red flag.
  • Use a third-party escrow service; never wire to a personal account. For dealer sales, a wire to the business account named on the invoice is normal; for private-party sales, use escrow.

Idealvehicle-condition diligence; factor missing items into risk and price

  • Ask for the export certificate. If the car was exported from Japan recently, the deregistration document can help confirm provenance and timing. If unavailable: certificates for older imports are often filed away, so absence is a risk signal, not automatic fraud.
  • Ask for underbody, engine bay, and rear-quarter photos. Those areas reveal rust and repair work that hero shots can hide.If unavailable: the car may still be in transit or storage; review existing media and ask for fresh shots once it's accessible.
  • Consider a third-party pre-purchase inspection (PPI). A specialist inspection can catch issues that change the price. If unavailable: a PPI is often not feasible while the car is still overseas, so price the added uncertainty instead of treating it as proof of fraud.

The J95 Land Cruiser is the perfect blend of size, capability, and refinement. It's also easy to service and was sold with the same powerplant as our American 4Runners and Tacomas. The J95 Land Cruiser is the perfect blend of size, capability, and refinement. It’s also easy to service and was sold with the same powerplant as our American 4Runners and Tacomas. This 2001 model is finished in a Millennium Silver (1C0) over Black two-tone. Aside from a few light dings, chips, and a missing factory backup mirror, the body is in good nick, and this TX Limited is set off by an optional OEM bumper…

guard, OEM rainguards, refinished 16′′ factory wheels, and a set of chrome mirrors and door handles. Fresh off a comprehensive service, this 4×4 is offered with a mere 95k verified and documented miles on the clock. Perfect for overlanding, ferrying the kids to soccer, or as a competent daily driver, this truck can do it all. Practical, unique, and durable, this midsize Japanese classic can do no wrong! The cabin is in good shape and offers tons of space and some decent amenities. Best of all, it features a factory third row, which is ideal for those with large families. Drivers of all sizes can find the ideal piloting position courtesy of a tilt-adjustable steering column. Power folding mirrors, power locks, and power windows all work in typical Toyota fashion, making daily use more enjoyable. The center stack is close by and includes an upgraded touchscreen Pioneer headunit. The radio also includes Bluetooth handsfree tech. Below, the automatic climate control unit is simple to operate and doles out piping hot heat and cold A/C. The seats are trimmed in a soft gray and blue cloth. The material lacks any major defects, apart from a few holes on the seat bottoms. It’s not much of an eyesore, as the remaining upholstery was well cared for in a prior life. The material is matched in the door cards, which have resisted major abuse. The headliner and carpets have withstood the past 25 years without sustaining any typical damage, and aside from the rear heating system being deleted, it’s hard to critique this cabin. Even a spare key is included with the purchase of this SUV. Built atop an almost identical frame as the 4Runner, parts, modifications, and service options are readily available for this Prado. Propulsion comes from a robust 2.7L gasoline engine. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 3RZ-FE whirrs to life courtesy of a new 12v battery, and a new engine air cleaner allows the four-banger to breathe freely. A set of spark plugs was installed so that fuel could be properly atomized, and a new muffler was installed so that the 3RZ sounds decent. A coolant flush was performed so that the engine was up to handling the thermal load and the powerplant feels healthy. It’s mated to a stout automatic gearbox that sends power to both axles courtesy of a full-time 4WD system. To ensure power gets to the ground, a new driver-side rear axle seal was replaced. For off-roading, a center locker and low-range 4WD are on hand, but we realize most will keep this on pavement. One of our trained techs also heavily refreshed the suspension with new front shocks, front lower control arms, front lower ball joints, and front swaybar links. It rides comfortably and the long wheelbase distributes large and small potholes alike. To slow down, ABS and four-wheel disc brakes are standard. New front brake pads were replaced, keeping stopping distances short. The power steering is light and easy to articulate and this J95 tracks straight as an arrow after a fresh alignment. Grip comes from four new 31′′ Falken tires we mounted and balanced at each corner. Turn key and ready to rock, this TX just needs a new owner.

Asking-price context

JDMBUYSELL comparison data for this Toyota Land Cruiser Prado; the basis line states the exact pool used.

Figures are shown in your selected display currency, and fall back to USD when live rates are unavailable.
