Smart buyer checklist

Treat this as two groups. Required items protect you from payment loss and fraud — if a seller resists any of them, walk away. Ideal items help you assess the car's condition; when one is missing, factor it into your risk and your offer rather than treating it as automatic fraud.

Requiredfraud and payment-loss prevention

  • Confirm title status. Clean, salvage, rebuilt, or no title — and the title's jurisdiction — should be clear before you wire.
  • Confirm the car is importable to your location. That's your homework, not the seller's; if the import path is unclear, step back and verify before paying.
  • Read the bill of sale before you wire. "As-is" with no warranty is normal; anything that removes inspection or payment protections is a red flag.
  • Use a third-party escrow service; never wire to a personal account. For dealer sales, a wire to the business account named on the invoice is normal; for private-party sales, use escrow.

Idealvehicle-condition diligence; factor missing items into risk and price

  • Ask for the export certificate. If the car was exported from Japan recently, the deregistration document can help confirm provenance and timing. If unavailable: certificates for older imports are often filed away, so absence is a risk signal, not automatic fraud.
  • Ask for underbody, engine bay, and rear-quarter photos. Those areas reveal rust and repair work that hero shots can hide.If unavailable: the car may still be in transit or storage; review existing media and ask for fresh shots once it's accessible.
  • Consider a third-party pre-purchase inspection (PPI). A specialist inspection can catch issues that change the price. If unavailable: a PPI is often not feasible while the car is still overseas, so price the added uncertainty instead of treating it as proof of fraud.

Description

Featuring a loaded cabin with tons of incredible options and features, this Toyota would be a great kid hauler, year-round daily driver, or weekend escape machine. The ability to traverse rough terrain in a vehicle is usually reserved for a truck or SUV. Typically, that means a rough ride or limiting the amount of passengers onboard, but thanks to these Japanese Classics, these are unnecessary sacrifices. This 1998 Granvia is a safe, spacious, and capable hauler. Finished in Alphard White over Yellow Silver Metallic (2CH) this seven-seater is set off by an OEM front lip, factory rainguards, an

OEM rear spoiler, subtle rear privacy tint, and a set of 4×4 Engineering 15′′ alloys. Aside from a few light dings, chips, and scuffs this hauler is in good nick and is fresh off a recent service. Touting a mere 93k verified and documented miles, this turn-key Granvia is about as reliable as it gets, thanks to a 3.4L 5VZ V6 engine that powers our Stateside 4Runners. Featuring a loaded cabin with tons of incredible options and features, this Toyota would be a great kid hauler, year-round daily driver, or weekend escape machine. Simply put, it’s hard to get more value out of a classic van! Inside the cabin, you’ll be welcomed by premium materials, tons of convenience features, and oodles of storage space. The head, leg, and shoulder room are abundant and everyone has space to move about. Designed for added front collision protection, the Granvia features standard dual front SRS airbags. The dashboard lacks any cracking or fading and includes a simple center stack with a trick OEM TV/Radio, that also features an integrated backup camera. It works like a charm, as does the dual-zone digital climate control located above. Rear occupants have their own dedicated climate controls, too, and if the team prefers more natural ventilation, dual moonroofs can be opened. The rear unit is power adjustable and massive. When retracted fully, it provides a splendid view of the heavens above. Natural light permeates the cabin making it feel even bigger somehow. Functional, American-sized cupholders, a large glovebox and factory linen curtains all make daily use more enjoyable, as do the power folding mirrors, electric locks, and power windows. The other benefit of the semi-bonneted layout is a flat loading floor and more cargo room. The interior offers some flexible seating arrangements. The driver gains access to a power adjustable bucket seat, the middle row can swivel and the rear row can slide and lay flat. There is also a sliding center console that butterflies out into a serving table. The side door even powers open and closes, which is cutting edge for this nearly 30 year old hauler! Also useful on future roadtrips, the first, second and third rows can be combined into a sleeping surface. The soft cloth upholstery lacks any major rips, stains, or tears, and was well cared for in a prior life. The same can be said for the door cards and carpets, which have resisted major abuse aside from some wear in the pedal box area. Free of major squeaks or rattles, the cabin’s condition impresses overall, and the owner’s manuals and maintenance booklets are included in the purchase, too!
