Description

The R34 Skyline marked a turning point for the brand's passenger vehicle lineup and, in our opinion, was the first Skyline to truly feel modern inside and out. The R34 Skyline was an important car for Nissan, and we’re not just talking about its prowess on the street and circuit! It marked a turning point for the brand’s passenger vehicle lineup and, in our opinion, was the first Skyline to truly feel modern inside and out. Our 1998 R34 sedan boasts a revised RB25DET NEO powerplant, Sonic Silver (KR4) paintwork, and URAS aero on the front, sides, and rear, which resembles the GTR’s more aggres

sive body lines. Additional flair on the exterior includes OEM rainguards, OEM carbon door garnishes, a factory rear spoiler and a sleek set of 18′′ Stage Knight alloys. Save for some light stone chips and dings, as well as a prior replacement of the left front fender, this R34 stands up to its head turning reputation and is a handsome sedan overall. Better yet, it’s racked up a mere 76k verified and documented miles over the years and is fresh off a recent service for a true turn-key experience. A squeaky clean example of a fan-favorite chassis, this Skyline is one vehicle that definitely deserves its Japanese Classic designation! The interior is leagues better than the R33 chassis it replaced, and key standard features like dual SRS airbags, upgraded instrumentation, and sport mesh upholstery helped usher this platform into the 21st century. The bucket seats show well overall and have resisted pretty much any serious wear and tear over the years. Additionally, the headliner and carpets are in great shape, and the original dealer option mats were included to preserve the history of this special Skyline. The dash materials are in good nick, too, and digital automatic climate control is easy to navigate and funnels cold A/C and piping hot heat into the cabin at a moment’s notice for comfortable year-round cruising. The center stack has been modernized with a Kenwood headunit, which features upgraded speakers to soundtrack your drive. To be expected for 1998, all four power windows slide up and down with ease, the power locks and keyless remote entry work like a charm, and power folding mirrors save your paintwork from getting nicked in a cramped parking deck. The back seats are plenty roomy for three additional passengers, and the trunk offers ample space for cargo as well. Nissan nailed this R34’s interior, and aside from an inoperable factory boost gauge, there’s little to complain about with this cabin. Typically, the exterior does all the talking for the R34 chassis, but enthusiasts give high marks to the RB25DET NEO under the bonnet as well. Bolstered with variable valve timing and a slight bump in horsepower, our trained technicians have performed a thorough once-over on this RB to ensure it performs its best. The I-6 cranks over with ease, and new camshaft seals and new valve cover gaskets keep the lubrication from a fresh oil and filter service internal. Best of all, a new timing belt and water pump service was performed, which is good for ten years and 100,000 kilometers. Of course, a new thermostat was chucked in and coolant was taken care of, too. To maintain proper operating temperatures, an aluminum radiator tucks nicely into the front of the engine bay, and this 2.5 keeps cool even at sustained highway speeds. The automatic gearbox throws the power rearward and is geared nicely for around-town sprints or longer interstate cruises. New Fortune Auto coilovers dial in the ride height, and the chassis feels compliant over road imperfections large and small. The ABS brakes are responsive, and the power steering is direct and on point. Lastly, we wrapped the Knights in fresh Falken rubber to ensure you’ll have plenty of grip and tread for tens of thousands of miles to come!
