Description

Reliable, capable, safe, and collectible, these trucks are our best sellers for a bevy of reasons and can be driven daily through all four seasons! In any large city, a quick ride to the suburbs will likely turn up a lot of third-generation 4Runners. Passed down through the family, these rigs are nearly unkillable. That’s why we love to grab models like this 1996 out of Japan. Powered by the same bulletproof V6 as sold here in the States, this Surf has logged a mere fraction of the use of our average American examples. Fresh off a recent service including a new timing belt and water pump, this

Stellar Blue (8L7) 4×4 is offered with a mere 79k verified and documented miles on the clock. Set off by a desirable OEM rear swingarm, a stylish optional rear spoiler, and 16′′ Epsilon Mozzer alloys, this SSR-G is a certified looker! The paint is in good shape aside from a few light dings and chips, and we wanted to note that the passenger side doors were replaced due to some creasing that couldn’t be made perfect with paintless dent removal. Reliable, capable, safe, and collectible, these trucks are our best sellers for a bevy of reasons and can be driven daily through all four seasons! The cabin is in above-average shape and includes a number of aftermarket and factory upgrades. Those who enjoy hitting the road with the windows down will love the optional moonroof that tilts back and retracts to provide added airflow. If you have a pooch, the rear window rolls down to give them some extra breathing room. If a summer swelter is in full effect, you can power up the windows and blast some ice-cold air conditioning. The climate control has an automatic setting, and the front and rear heat works like a charm. To make daily use more enjoyable, the keyless entry, power locks, and power mirrors all function. For longer hauls, a tilt-adjustable steering column allows pilots of all sizes to get comfortable behind the wheel, and the driver also gains adjustable lumbar support. The designers didn’t forget about those riding out back, and they made the rear seats independently 4-way reclinable. The rear row can also split fold, and tumble forward to create a flat loading floor. The Moon Mist upholstery lacks any major imperfections such as large rips, stains, or tears. The durable material is mirrored in the door cards, which are in fine shape. The carpets and headliner have resisted major abuse over the years, and the dashboard lacks any cracking or distortion, which is a known problem for these vehicles. Dual SRS airbags are standard for those who value safety, and ABS is standard equipment. Other cabin upgrades include a large Kenwood touchscreen headunit. It pipes tunes throughout the cabin to supplement your commute and a factory Field Monitor keeps those in the cabin aware of the outside conditions and direction of travel should you lose cell service. Save for some wear on the steering wheel and a non-operational power folding function on the passenger mirror, it is hard to complain about the condition of this cherry cockpit. Sharing a drivetrain with a USDM 4Runner has its benefits, and the 5VZ-FE under the bonnet just happens to be one of Toyota’s best designs to date! This smooth 3.4L V6 is fresh off a recent service by our trained technicians, including a lot of beneficial preventative maintenance. We took care of a big ticket item and replaced the timing belt and water pump. A new thermostat was chucked in to regulate thermal load, and new valve cover gaskets and cam seals keep any unwanted lubricant from our oil and filter service from escaping the head. We even installed six new spark plugs while we were in there! This V6 jets right up to highway speeds with the new maintenance performed, and an automatic gearbox does a swell job at putting power down to all four wheels. To maximize fuel efficiency, cruising in 2WD is a must, but 4WD, a center locking differential, and low range are on hand for real-deal off-road escapades. New shocks were installed all the way around to keep the cabin comfortable over larger road imperfections. They greatly improve ride quality, and we also installed new front and rear swaybar links to help this super Surf pass state inspection. Expensive and labor-intensive, we performed a full steering rack rebuild. New seals were installed, as well as inner and outer tie rods, and rack boots. The ABS brakes bite with authority, and we installed new front pads to keep stopping distances to a minimum. Lastly, a fresh alignment will keep the 31′′ Falkens lasting for a long while to come, all this truck is turn key and ready to rock!
