Description

Reliable, tough, inexpensive to service, and fun to drive, this midsize turbodiesel SUV is our best-selling model annually for a reason. The second generation Hilux Surf is an endearing SUV. It has fan-favorite looks and packs a big punch, with its powerful turbodiesel powerplant. This 1994 is a special rig, and is finished in a classic Dark Teal Green Mica (751). Aside from a few light dings,. chips and scuffs the paint is in good nick, and this SSR-V model is adorned with an OEM bash bar, dual amber driving lamps, OEM grille guard, factory optional spare tire swing arm, chrome bumpers and ma

tching OEM chrome steel wheels. Best off all, this recently serviced hauler is offered with a mere 73k verified and documented miles on the clock, which is nothing short of incredible on a 30 year old truck. Spec’d with an incredible engine, we can’t imagine why you’d even consider an American version, that have typically logged hundreds of thousands of miles on a thirstier engine. Reliable, tough, inexpensive to service, and fun to drive, this midsize SUV is our best-selling model annually for a reason. Affordable and capable Japanese Classics are what we are known for, and this example is the cream of the crop! Simple in its design, the cabin has all that you need to daily drive comfortably. The center stack is close by and features an intuitive climate system. Large buttons are easy to depress, even with gloves on, and the system doles out piping hot heat and cold air conditioning. Below a snazzy Pioneer radio upgrade supplements the cabin with tunes and sounds decent with a set of aftermarket tweeters. A classy Nardi steering wheel makes the cabin feel more upscale. The gray textured cloth upholstery is in good shape and lacks any major rips, stains or tears. The matching material in the door cards is in good nick, too. The carpets and headliner have withstood the past 25 years without sustaining major abuse. A tilt steering column and adjustable lumbar support allow the driver to find the optional seating position. The rear seats 4 way recline, too. Power windows, door locks, and mirrors all function and make daily use more enjoyable. Aside from a lightly cracked dash there is little to complain about and this Surf even includes its original owner’s manuals and maintenance booklets. Under the skin, this body on frame beast is built to last. The same can be said for the legendary powerplant, the 1KZ-TE. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 3.0L mill starts up with the twist of a key. A new fuel filter strains the diesel and a new engine air filter allows the 1K to breathe freely. One of our trained techs has refreshed the engine with a new valve cover gasket and half moon seal. New serpentine belts keep the electronics properly powered for your enjoyment. The four banger runs like a champ and pulls hard to redline. The automatic gearbox makes good use of the copious amounts of low end torque and this Surf sails up to highway speeds much faster than our domestic V6 gasoline 4runners. It slows down promptly as the chassis is somewhat light, and while it was up on our lift we replaced the front rotors and pads. It rides nicely and new front lower ball joints were installed to pass the Virginia state safety inspection. We also smoothed out the steering by adding a brand new steering damper. The power steering pump was rebuilt professionally and we aligned this Hilux so it drives straight as an arrow. The OEM wheels are wrapped in new Falken all-terrain rubber all around. The freshly mounted and balanced rubber quells road noises and will provide tens of thousands of miles of grip for a good long while to come. Tune key and ready to rock, this Surf is decent over tarmac and just as capable off the beaten path if you were born to explore!
