Nissan 180SX for sale

180SX RPS13 (1989-1998). JDM-only hatchback variant of the S13 chassis shared with the Silvia notchback. The CA18DET 1.8L turbo powered early production; the SR20DET 2.0L turbo replaced it from 1991. The 180SX uses the same front subframe, suspension geometry, and drivetrain as the S13 Silvia but features a fastback hatchback body. Zenki (1989-1994) and Kouki (1994-1998) facelifts are distinct body revisions. Export equivalents include the 240SX hatchback in North America and the 200SX in Europe. All RPS13 variants are US-eligible under the 25-year rule.

About the Nissan 180SX

The 180SX (RPS13) is a JDM-only model produced from 1989 to 1998 as the hatchback companion to the S13 Silvia notchback, sharing the same chassis code family, front subframe, suspension geometry, engine bay, and drivetrain. The two models differ from the B-pillar rearward: the Silvia uses a notchback with a trunk opening; the 180SX a fastback structure with a sloping roofline and rear hatch. This body distinction affects structural torsional rigidity and rear aerodynamic balance at speed.

CA18DET 1.8L turbo powered the 1989-1991 Zenki 180SX; the SR20DET 2.0L turbo replaced it from 1991 with minor cooling and intake modifications in the same engine bay. SR20DET output in the 180SX is the same 205ps (JDM spec) as in the S13 Silvia K's. The 1994-1998 Kouki 180SX received a comprehensive restyle, revised headlights, bumpers, and taillights, while retaining the mechanical specification unchanged. Both Zenki and Kouki retain the pop-up headlight arrangement.

The 180SX name was not exported: North America received the 240SX hatchback (KA24E/KA24DE), and Europe the 200SX, all sharing the S13/RPS13 chassis but differing in engine and equipment. All RPS13 variants are US-eligible under the 25-year rule. The 180SX is frequently imported as a starting point for SR20DET builds given the factory turbocharged engine, established UK and Australian import community, and comprehensive chassis modification documentation. Japanese auction condition grade records are available for most imported examples.
