Smart buyer checklist

Treat this as two groups. Required items protect you from payment loss and fraud — if a seller resists any of them, walk away. Ideal items help you assess the car's condition; when one is missing, factor it into your risk and your offer rather than treating it as automatic fraud.

Required fraud and payment-loss prevention

  • Confirm title status. Clean, salvage, rebuilt, or no title — and the title's jurisdiction — should be clear before you wire.
  • Confirm the car is importable to your location. That's your homework, not the seller's; if the import path is unclear, step back and verify before paying.
  • Read the bill of sale before you wire. "As-is" with no warranty is normal; anything that removes inspection or payment protections is a red flag.
  • Use a third-party escrow service; never wire to a personal account. For dealer sales, a wire to the business account named on the invoice is normal; for private-party sales, use escrow.

Ideal vehicle-condition diligence; factor missing items into risk and price

  • Ask for the export certificate. If the car was exported from Japan recently, the deregistration document can help confirm provenance and timing. If unavailable: certificates for older imports are often filed away, so absence is a risk signal, not automatic fraud.
  • Ask for underbody, engine bay, and rear-quarter photos. Those areas reveal rust and repair work that hero shots can hide.If unavailable: the car may still be in transit or storage; review existing media and ask for fresh shots once it's accessible.
  • Consider a third-party pre-purchase inspection (PPI). A specialist inspection can catch issues that change the price. If unavailable: a PPI is often not feasible while the car is still overseas, so price the added uncertainty instead of treating it as proof of fraud.

Pearl) Coming off the incredible run of the GC8/GF8 WRX, Subaru’s next iteration of the Impreza WRX (the GGA and GDA) had a massive undertaking to fill the role of one of the most iconic rally cars in existence. Retaining the 2.0L flat-4 turbo engine and AWD configuration, this new generation of WRX remained a simple yet effective do-it-all chassis for the everyday auto enthusiast. Offering plenty of factory power, the capability to tackle any road condition, and a four-door sedan or station wagon layout with ample cargo space, the WRX serves as a fantastic all-in-one solution for the rally-blooded gearhead. Under the hood sits a turbocharged EJ205-the famous Subaru-derived flat-4 boxer engine that earned its reputation and continues to deliver over 30 years after the WRX first hit the market. Delivering a factory rating of 250 HP, power output is smooth and linear from the moment you press the pedal all the way up to its 7,000 RPM redline. This power is sent to all four wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission carried over from the first-generation WRX, maintaining a familiar driving feel for those who have experienced the GC8. Built to deliver a distinctive boxer rumble and unmistakable turbo noise, this particular WRX comes well-equipped from Japan with a Greddy BOV, Tomei intake piping, and a full aftermarket exhaust. Inside, the layout of this second-generation WRX is clean and comfortable, just like the GC8 before it. Controls for climate, audio, and accessories are intuitive and uncluttered, with a mesh-pattern cloth fabric lining the seats and door panels. Power features come standard, including power locks, mirrors, and windows. Analog gauges are large and easy to read, while an advanced Greddy Profec boost controller mounted atop the steering column allows the driver to adjust turbo response and boost settings to match their driving style. To keep you planted during spirited driving, a fully adjustable Recaro seat on matching sliders replaces the original factory seat, offering enhanced bolstering without sacrificing everyday comfort. In addition to these driver-focused upgrades, a Momo steering wheel and aftermarket shift knob keep you connected to the road through every gear and corner. Outside is where this particular WRX truly stands out. Outfitted with a host of aero components, this Subaru features a distinct C-West front bumper and grille that give an aggressive face to the iconic “Bugeye” design. Along the sides, CS-style side skirts and STi-style rear spats complement the body lines while retaining daily-driver ground clearance. Complementing the aero kit, fully adjustable Largus coilovers allow you to fine-tune ride height and handling, while bronze-finished Work M8R wheels pair perfectly with Subaru’s Midnight Black Pearl paint. Service work on this Subaru was straightforward, reflecting the care given by its previous owner during its first 25 years in Japan. Our in-house technicians installed new tires for a smooth ride, replaced the inner tie rods for crisp steering response, and installed a new differential input seal to keep the undercarriage dry. Alongside vehicle-specific repairs, we performed full routine maintenance, including installing a new battery, changing the oil, replacing the oil and air filters, topping off all fluids, and testing all lights. Continuing the legacy of rally-proven performance, this second-generation Impreza WRX is an outstanding addition to any collection. With 97,471 miles and a proven track record of longevity worldwide, this Impreza has plenty of spirited driving and daily cruising ahead. Thanks to Subaru’s long-standing boxer platform, maintenance remains simple and accessible. For anyone searching for a capable, comfortable, and iconic daily driver, this WRX is ready to roll.
