Smart buyer checklist

Treat this as two groups. Required items protect you from payment loss and fraud — if a seller resists any of them, walk away. Ideal items help you assess the car's condition; when one is missing, factor it into your risk and your offer rather than treating it as automatic fraud.

Requiredfraud and payment-loss prevention

  • Confirm title status. Clean, salvage, rebuilt, or no title — and the title's jurisdiction — should be clear before you wire.
  • Confirm the car is importable to your location. That's your homework, not the seller's; if the import path is unclear, step back and verify before paying.
  • Read the bill of sale before you wire. "As-is" with no warranty is normal; anything that removes inspection or payment protections is a red flag.
  • Use a third-party escrow service; never wire to a personal account. For dealer sales, a wire to the business account named on the invoice is normal; for private-party sales, use escrow.

Idealvehicle-condition diligence; factor missing items into risk and price

  • Ask for the export certificate. If the car was exported from Japan recently, the deregistration document can help confirm provenance and timing. If unavailable: certificates for older imports are often filed away, so absence is a risk signal, not automatic fraud.
  • Ask for underbody, engine bay, and rear-quarter photos. Those areas reveal rust and repair work that hero shots can hide.If unavailable: the car may still be in transit or storage; review existing media and ask for fresh shots once it's accessible.
  • Consider a third-party pre-purchase inspection (PPI). A specialist inspection can catch issues that change the price. If unavailable: a PPI is often not feasible while the car is still overseas, so price the added uncertainty instead of treating it as proof of fraud.

wilderness.JDMOFFROAD brought this Saudi Arabia Land Cruiser in 2024 and we began the customizations.we started with the interior, removing the troop carrier seats and vinyl matts. We cleaned, treated and sound deadened the interior panels and flooring. The cabin was then updated with New Carbu tan vinyl seats and carpet kit. The windows are all manual, rolling down front door glass and sliding glass in the back. The interior panels were all replaced, gone are the cardboard like material. Replaced with DI-BOND panels. The front door cards were then wrapped in fabric to match the brown interior. The Stereo was updated with Kenwood touchscreen and speakers in dash and door. The rear seats were replaced with a raised sleeping platform with storage below a 3" memory foam bed. The raised aluminum frame is the perfect place for custom pullout drawers or your oversized outdoor gear. The mechanical aspects have not been forgotten. We have rebuilt the transferase with new gears and seals. The 3 speed transfer case now shifts and holds strong. The axels were serviced with new axel seals and lubricant. No weeping or leaking from any corner. The fluids have all been replaced with front and rear differentials and transmission. The engine is a 4.2 liter straight 6, common rail diesel. These are known for being simple with no electronics to make it run. These could be fixed in the outback with simple tools. The heater and Ac both work as expected, getting hot and cold when you want. The exterior was also upgraded starting at the front.A 12k electric badlands Winch with hand controls and synthetic line was mounted to Dobinson Australian style Front Bumper. A safari style snorkel/airbox was fitted in Saudi Arabia. To match all the black accentsBlack steel Wheels and Falcon Wildpeak AT4W tires were installed on Nomad Field 503 and a matching full-size spare was affixed to the rear barn style door. EmuWing "Gullwing" windows were installed to replace the rear sliding windows. Two powder coated panels and two tempered glass windows. A 2025 Alucab Pop-Top was added this year. The order took months to get here, and over a week to install correctly. It fits so well. There is still so much room for customization with electrical accessories and interior kit.
