Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 4.7L chugs to life courtesy of a new 12v battery. A new fuel filter and engine air filter were installed as part of our tune-up. While on the lift, we also flushed the coolant, so that the V8 could stay running at the right temps. Future fluid checks are made easier with new hood shocks, and everything was topped up in that regard. The 2UZ is linked to a stout automatic transmission. It shifts like a champ, and so it stays that way, we performed a transmission fluid service. Torque is fed to both axles through a Full-Time 4WD system. Equipped with a center locker and low range, this truck can off-road with the best of them. The driveline was bolstered with a front hub service, and we also refreshed the power steering system with a complete rack rebuild. The fluid was flushed, and we installed new rack bushings while we were in there. To dial in a perfect alignment, the inner and outer tie rods were replaced. The Land Cruiser rides on optional active height control suspension. We refreshed the system with new rear upper and lower control arms and rear sway bar endlinks. It rides like a dream over rough pavement and is a comfortable high-speed cruiser. The 18′′ alloys are clad in good all-terrain rubber. The ABS brakes do a swell job of slowing down this heavyweight, and aside from a light manifold tick, which is hard to hear once the vehicle has been warmed up, it’s hard to complain about the mechanicals on this awesome low-mileage cruiser as it’ll likely outlive you!
