Description

The J90 Land Cruiser is extraordinarily unique. The small footprint makes it ideal for city ownership, but under the skin, this tremendous two-door actually shares a platform with our US 4Runners, down to the engine. The J90 Land Cruiser is extraordinarily unique. The small footprint makes it ideal for city ownership, but under the skin, this tremendous two-door actually shares a platform with our US 4Runners, down to the engine. The 5VZ-FE under the hood has a reputation that precedes itself, and with 133k verified and documented miles on the ticker, this dependable quad cam mill has tons of

life left in it. Rolling on a new Eibach lift, this terrific Toyota also features a refined ride over the tarmac and an off-road pedigree matched by few. Finished in Natural White Over Gunmetal Gray (K72), the cosmetics are stylish too, set off by OEM rainguards, an optional front bumper guard, and color-matched refinished 16′′ OEM trispoke alloys. Save for a few rock chips and loss of gloss in some of the clear, the exterior is in decent shape for being nearly 30 years young. Boasting an abundance of interior space, this two-door truck can haul about passengers with ease, and can squeeze through tight trails if you need to go off the grid for a weekend. Easy on the eyes, fun to drive, and simple to service, there’s a reason we sell so many of these Japanese Classics! The interior complements the exterior styling to a T. It’s fashioned in durable materials and is extraordinarily functional. It serves up more head and legroom than its 4Runner cousin, making it easy to pack in passengers, and it has a host of power equipment to make daily driving a breeze. The patterned cloth upholstery has resisted any major rips or tears, and save for a few spots of discoloration, the condition of the cockpit is still above-average. The same can be said for the dash and accessory panels. For the safety-conscious occupant, dual SRS airbags are tucked up front, and the driver can get comfortable behind a tilt-adjustable steering column. The center stack serves up functional automatic climate control, ripe with cold A/C and hot heat. Adjacent to the HVAC, upgraded Eclipse audio features USB compatibility to pump in your own tunes. The rear seats are surprisingly spacious, and they have the ability to flip fully forward if you need to expand the cargo hold. Positioned centrally, a factory digital field monitor displays info about outside conditions and includes a nifty trip computer if you lose GPS or cell service. The upholstery is decidedly 90’s, with a throwback pattern that matches the overall aesthetic of the truck. The material is mirrored in the door cards, which are in good shape. Additionally, the headliner and carpets are tidy. For a 26-year-old cockpit, perfection isn’t possible, and we also wanted to note some wear to the steering wheel and shift knob. To sweeten the deal, we retained the original owner’s manual, and the factory optional armrest extension too! Toyota diehards will appreciate the 5VZ-FE under the bonnet. They’ll also be pleased to learn that suspension, brakes, and steering components are all shared with our USDM 4Runner models, too! Our trained technicians have serviced this one for a turn-key experience, starting with a new 12v battery that was tossed in to aid ignition, along with six new spark plugs and a new fuel filter to properly atomize the petrol. A new intake air filter allows the 3.4L to breathe freely, and thermal management is handled by a new radiator. We flushed the coolant while it was on the lift, which will not need to be done for another four years. We also fixed a few pesky oil leaks. New valve cover gaskets were installed, as were new cam plug seals. The 5VZ is linked to a stout automatic gearbox that shifts as it should. Torque is fed through a Full-Time 4WD system, and a low range and center locker can be engaged when the going gets tough. The short wheelbase is also ideal for maneuverability, and can be utilized for steep approach and descent angles. The suspension was entirely overhauled, and we installed a 2′′ Eibach lift kit, which features a distinct inverted shock design. It rides like a dream, and we also installed new rear upper and lower control arms for state inspection purposes. A fresh alignment makes sure the brand new 33′′ Falken tires last as long as possible, and this rig tracks straight as an arrow now. The ABS brakes are confident feeling, and the power steering is easy to articulate and communicative for a truck. Turn-key and ready to rock, the practical Prado is a delight to motor, and we know the new American owner is going to fall in love as soon as they get behind the wheel!
