Ideal as around-town cruisers, but overly capable on the beach or muddy trail, the 100 series is a Japanese Classic truck that’s as functional and comfortable as it is stylish. Optional in Japan, the leather upholstery is in terrific shape for its vintage and was clearly cared for by a previous owner. The power-operated buckets are heated up front, and the driver can manipulate an electric tilt and telescoping steering column at will to find the perfect piloting position. The factory touchscreen features easy to use controls for standard dual-zone climate control, and OEM audio. The cabin is comfortable, thanks to functioning A/C and hot heat, and your rear passengers benefit from their own set of controls so they can stay comfortable. Dual SRS airbags are tucked in the dash for safety conscious occupants, and the entire cabin construction is safe, to ensure even your passengers back in the third row are in good hands. Power windows, locks, and electric folding side mirrors work like a charm, and an expansive power moonroof unfurls with haste. The headliner is tidy, as are the factory carpets, which are protected by plush factory floor mats. The rear hatch is spacious, and the middle row can flip forward to expand the size of the already massive cargo hold. If you prioritize cargo space over carrying capacity, the third row seats can easily flip up and off to the side to open up the trunk. Save for a non operational antenna, it’s hard to critique this cherry cabin! The 2UZ engine designation is practically synonymous with durability, power, and reliability, and best of all it can be found in plenty of US model Toyotas, making servicing this Cruiser a snap! We’ve given this 4.7 V8 a new lease on life, with a fresh oil and filter service, a new engine air filter, and a new fuel filter to keep things running smoothly. We installed a new 12v battery to aid ignition, and the 2UZ’s power delivery is impressive overall. It jets up to highway speeds in a snap, and a smooth shifting automatic gearbox puts the power down to a legendary full time 4WD system. A center locking differential can click on in an instant if you’re traversing on loose surfaces, and 4WD low is on hand if you find yourself in a sticky situation. The AHC suspension articulates predictably. It can raise up or lower down at the push of a button and also features damping adjustment as well. To help this Cruiser ace safety instpection, we installed new rear upper and lower control arms, and new front swaybar link bushings. It passed without hesitation, and a fresh alignment was performed to keep this cruiser tracking dead straight. The power steering is light and on point, and the system benefits from a fresh fluid flush. The ABS brakes bite with ferocity, and the power steering is light and easy to maneuver even on this body-on-frame brute.
