The center stack features controls for the digital automatic climate control, and adjacent Boss audio, complete with Bluetooth and US FM compatibility. The HVAC doles out cold A/C up front, and hot heat to both zones independently, and for those who experience temps below zero, a factory block heater can be engaged to help get things flowing a bit quicker. If you want top-tier fuel economy and butter smooth driving dynamics out of a behemoth SUV, you’ll need a stout turbodiesel engine like the 1HD-FTE, fresh off a recent service here at the shop, ours cranks over with haste thanks to 2 newly installed 12v batteries, which keep the brand new alternator properly charged. The engine air filter and fuel filter were also changed out to keep contaminants out of your combustion chamber, and new serpentine belts were installed to reliably drive your accessories. The 1HD was refreshed for the HDJ101 chassis, and the differences certainly show. It jets up to highway speeds a bit quicker, and doesn’t clang around like older diesel powerplants. It sends power right to an automatic transmission which disperses it amongst all four wheels and also has a new pan gasket installed here. A truck like this is bound to see some loose gravel or mud, and 4WD low is on hand for real-deal off road expeditions. This Landy touts optional height adjustable hydraulic suspension. A new front right lower ball joint keeps the suspension on the up and up, and this luxury cruiser truly rides like a cloud, which is impressive given its intimidating presence on the pavement.
