Slowly but surely, the 90 series is becoming the enthusiast’s new top SUV pick. It’s easy to see why, as these rigs share a frame with US 4Runner models, so parts availability and service options are abundant. oker overall, and set off by OEM rainguards, chrome mirror caps and door handles, and a set of sleek refinished Bridgestone 4×4 alloys. Save for a few scuffs and dings, the cosmetics are no worse for the wear, and this 114k verified and documented mile Prado is in good nick overall. Fresh off a recent service, this would make for a fantastic daily driver, weekend camp-mobile, or dedicated overland all-star. Snatch this in-demand Japanese Classic while it’s still here, because it won’t last long! The interior has a lot to love, and is much larger than the 4Runner it shares a platform with. Instead, drivers benefit from third-row seating, increased head and legroom, and a full slate of power amenities that all work well, in true Toyota fashion. It’s also fashioned in a premium-feeling gray cloth upholstery that’s also quite durable, showing no discernible rips, stains, or defects outside of some minor bolster wear on the driver’s seat. The dash is also in good shape, and the driver gains access to a tilt-adjustable steering column to get comfortable behind the wheel. Dual SRS airbags are present up front, and the center stack is trimmed in a handsome faux-woodgrain finish. Mounted centrally, OEM audio lies adjacent to an easy to use automatic climate control system, which pumps in cold A/C and hot heat on command. If you prefer to let in natural airflow, the power windows work, and the rear glass butterflies out. Also operable are power locks, and electric folding side mirrors, which assist daily use. The rear bench is versatile to accommodate additional storage or passengers. It reclines for road trip naps, and flips fully forward to expand the cargo hold. Desirable third row seating is also on hand and can quickly deploy from the D-pillars. The headliner is tidy, as are the carpets beneath. All in all, if you can see past some minor steering wheel wear and a cracked center console lid, it’s really hard to scrutinize this classic cabin. The 1KZ-TE under the hood is a determined beast of an engine. Intercooled, turbodiesel, and frugal to operate, it’s no wonder this motor has such a cult following here in the states. To sweeten the deal, one of our trained technicians has given this one a once-over, installing 2 new 12v batteries so it cranks over with haste. An oil and filter service was also performed, and we preemptively replaced the fuel filter to get you on track for future maintenance schedules. The 3.0TD jets right up to highway speeds and power is sent to all four wheels via an automatic gearbox. For real-deal off road escapades, a locking center differential can engage, as can 4WD low if the going gets rough. The factory suspension insulates nicely against road imperfections, and the steering is light and on point. We replaced the front brake rotors and pads to bolster the ABS system, and installed four new 31′′ Falken all-terrains which further enhance grip and stopping power. They look dang good on the Bridgestone wheels, and benefit from a fresh alignment to prolong tire life!
