Description

The 90 Series is grossly underrated. Its plush, like a Lexus GX, and is built atop the same frame as a domestic 4Runner, so servicing is a snap. The 90 Series is grossly underrated. Its plush, like a Lexus GX, and is built atop the same frame as a domestic 4Runner, so servicing is a snap. This 1996 happen to be easy on the eyes, with its Desert Dune Metallic over Gray Metalllic two tone. Aside from a few light scuffs, dings and chips the body is in good shape, and is adorned by OEM rainguards and 16′′ WEDS Keeler alloys. This turbodiesel rig is fresh off a recent service, offered with a mere 9

9k verified and documented miles on the clock, and this 4×4 is barely broken in. Safe, efficient, and capable, this eight seater would make for a wonderful year round family hauler or wicked weekend cruiser. Affordable, rugged, and classically cool, this Japanese Classic deserves your attention and more. The cabin is in good shape and was clearly cared for overseas. There is oodles of space, and both front occupants benefit from dual SRS airbags as standard equipment. The dashboard lacks any cracking or fading and the center stack is close by and easy to reach. A Pioneer audio upgrade was installed in Japan and supplies the cabin with tunes. The radio includes auxiliary inputs for your smartphone, and below, the automatic climate control system is located and easy to operate. The A/C cools the cabin quickly and the heat gets piping hot, too. If you prefer more natural ventilation the windows are electric and the rear quarter glass pops outward to supplement airflow. Power mirrors and power locks work in typical Toyota fashion making daily use more enjoyable, although the passenger mirror no longer electronically folds. The seats are trimmed in a jazzy grey stylized cloth. The material lacks any major rips, stains or tears and is in fine shape. It matches the door cards which lack any major damage, as well. The headliner is clean and held taut against the roof and the carpets lack any major imperfections.Thats not to say the cabin is perfect, as we wanted to note the field monitor is a bit dim and the center surround has a few blemishes from prior accessory installation. Still at 25 years old the cabin condition is impressive and we have included the original owners manual for the new owner to enjoy! This body on frame beast is powered by an equally as impressive engine. This intercooled version of the 1KZ-TE is fresh off an oil and filter service, and whirls to life care of a new 12v battery. We replaced the intake tube with a new one as the old one had cracked. A new fuel filter and engine air filter give the 1K a quick tune up, and we added some new accessory belts to keep the electronics reliably powered. The ECU functions flawlessly thanks to a rebuild and that repair carries a lifetime warranty on it as well! Thermal management is no sweat for this 1K and a coolant flush was just performed and won’t be required for another four years. To keep the four-banger topped up on lubricant, one of our trained techs installed a new valve cover gasket and replaced the half moon seal, too. The 3.0L pulls hard to redline and power is fed through a Full-Time 4WD system, with a center locker and low range. The gearbox shifts properly and benefits from a fluid exchange. It slows down decently well, with standard ABS and new front brake pads and rotors. It rides like a dream, and we have refreshed the suspension heavily for the new owner. New front and rear shocks turn potholes into nothing, and we have replaced the lower control arms and ball joints. A new alignment keeps the Prado tracking straight as an arrow and new inner and outer tie rods allow us to dial in the steering. The steering rack was fully rebuilt with new seals and is light and easy to maneuver. Grip is handled by four new Falken tires, which look handsome on the WEDS wheels and should last for tens of thousands of miles to come!
