Description

The 70 series Land Cruiser is truly apocalypse-proof. The 70 series Land Cruiser is truly apocalypse-proof. Its simple and sturdy mechanicals are easy to service, and the exterior styling looks great, and makes you feel even better when behind the wheel. Our 1994 Prado SX is a handsome rig, backed by a turbodiesel drivetrain that’s fresh off a recent service. Finished in Emerald Green/Silver (24V), the aesthetic is subtle and complements the boxy bodylines nicely. Set off by LED tail lamps, a factory spare tire carrier, and OEM 15″ wheels, the cosmetics are in good shape overall, save for a fe

w nicks, dings, and loss of gloss on some of the plastic trim. Better yet, the 138k miles on the clock are documented and verified, and as a whole, it’s obvious the previous owner cared for this one well. Ideal for a backcountry photoshoot, daily duty, or real-deal overlanding expeditions, this Japanese Classic does it all and then some! The interior assumes a simple, spartan design, with durable materials that were designed to stand the test of time. Save from some light dash cracking, most surfaces are tidy, including the patterned cloth upholstery, which reaches all the way back to the optional third row seating. The material is mimicked in the door cards, which are also in good shape. The power switchgear is mounted centrally, and the center stack houses upgraded Panasonic audio and easy to use HVAC. The driver benefits from a tilt-adjustable steering column that comes with a sleek Leonard Volanti woodgrain wheel mounted atop it. Cold A/C and hot heat work well for those living in seasonal climates. If you prefer natural airflow throughout your cabin, all four power windows work like a charm, and the rear quarter glass can butterfly outward. Free of rips, stains, or tears, the seating surfaces are in good shape, and to prioritize cargo space, the third row can easily fold aside against the D-pillars. The headliner is tight and tidy, as are the carpets. Although it’s a brick on wheels, this spacious interior can seat up to seven, offers an abundance of headroom for all, and we think it really hits the mark for condition overall. This body-on-frame SUV is a determined champ, and the same can be said for the 3.0L engine under the hood. This 1KZ-TE is one of our top picks. It’s frugal on fuel, easy to get parts for, and is fresh off a recent service here by our trained technicians. A brand new 12v battery aids ignition, and this lovely beast is fresh off an oil and filter service. Under the hood, we tossed in a new engine air filter and replaced the fuel filter, which is standard procedure on all of our diesel-powered vehicles. The 3.0TD delivers a boatload of torque down low, and we flushed out the transmission fluid with all-new lubricant to keep gear changes smooth and predictable on the automatic box. The trans sends power rearward, and 4WD is easy enough to engage if you need to venture onto loose surfaces. We took care of a tricky suspension repair and installed new trailing arm bushings here in the shop. After installing new rear endlinks, this truck was ready to ace state inspection, and the factory suspension cruises comfortably too. The power steering is easy enough to maneuver, and new front brake pads help stop this Prado on a dime. The OEM alloys look dang good on all four corners, and we installed fresh Falken all-terrain all the way around to keep you safely glued to the pavement. Fresh off a four-wheel alignment, this rig is safe, sturdy, and ready to take its eager new owner just about anywhere!
