Smart buyer checklist

Treat this as two groups. Required items protect you from payment loss and fraud — if a seller resists any of them, walk away. Ideal items help you assess the car's condition; when one is missing, factor it into your risk and your offer rather than treating it as automatic fraud.

Requiredfraud and payment-loss prevention

  • Confirm title status. Clean, salvage, rebuilt, or no title — and the title's jurisdiction — should be clear before you wire.
  • Confirm the car is importable to your location. That's your homework, not the seller's; if the import path is unclear, step back and verify before paying.
  • Read the bill of sale before you wire. "As-is" with no warranty is normal; anything that removes inspection or payment protections is a red flag.
  • Use a third-party escrow service; never wire to a personal account. For dealer sales, a wire to the business account named on the invoice is normal; for private-party sales, use escrow.

Idealvehicle-condition diligence; factor missing items into risk and price

  • Ask for the export certificate. If the car was exported from Japan recently, the deregistration document can help confirm provenance and timing. If unavailable: certificates for older imports are often filed away, so absence is a risk signal, not automatic fraud.
  • Ask for underbody, engine bay, and rear-quarter photos. Those areas reveal rust and repair work that hero shots can hide.If unavailable: the car may still be in transit or storage; review existing media and ask for fresh shots once it's accessible.
  • Consider a third-party pre-purchase inspection (PPI). A specialist inspection can catch issues that change the price. If unavailable: a PPI is often not feasible while the car is still overseas, so price the added uncertainty instead of treating it as proof of fraud.

Description

Year: 2000 Make: Subaru Drivetrain: - Transmission: Manual Mileage: 33,426 mi Availability: In Stock Ready to Ship Engine: EN07Y 660cc 4 Cylinder EFI Color: Polar White VIN: TT2-084884 Body: Kei Truck / Mini Truck Stock: BUC95065 A 2000 Subaru Sambar EFI Supercharged 4WD in our current inventory, finished in Polar White, brought in out of the Japanese domestic market. Subaru's Sambar was the first ordinary kei truck and cab-van offered with four-wheel drive, from 1980. Enthusiasts nicknamed the rear-engined Sambar the "agricultural Porsche", and the joke does real work: rear engine, rear…

drive, four cylinders, independent suspension all round. Putting the engine under the bed was a deliberate load-carrying decision: on a kei truck the difference between empty and laden is enormous, and the engine acts as ballast over the driven axle when the bed is empty. It shows 33,426 on the clock. The source recorded no unit alongside that figure, so 33,426 is reproduced exactly as stored rather than converted. The listing records air conditioning, an airbag and power steering. Power comes from the EN07Y, a fuel-injected 660cc 4-cylinder unit. The EN07 is a genuine four-cylinder in a kei-sized package. Subaru kept building it long after almost everyone else had settled on three cylinders, and it is the single biggest reason Sambars have their own following. The EN07Y drives through a manual gearbox. On the specification it carries selectable 2WD / 4WD high. A 2000 Sambar EFI Supercharged 4WD is old enough to be simple and new enough to be usable, which is most of why this generation gets exported rather than scrapped. It is on our books as 461-2B, and what this listing records is what we hold on file for it. It is listed at $17,995.

Asking-price context

JDMBUYSELL comparison data for this Subaru Sambar; the basis line states the exact pool used.

Figures are shown in your selected display currency, and fall back to USD when live rates are unavailable. Active asking-price pools use current active listings, not verified sale prices or an appraisal. For sold pools: sale price when reported; otherwise, the listing’s last asking price. Samples of fewer than 5 comparable listings are not shown. Lighter shading means fewer examples, not higher precision. Source: JDMBUYSELL listing data.
