Smart buyer checklist

Treat this as two groups. Required items protect you from payment loss and fraud — if a seller resists any of them, walk away. Ideal items help you assess the car's condition; when one is missing, factor it into your risk and your offer rather than treating it as automatic fraud.

Requiredfraud and payment-loss prevention

  • Confirm title status. Clean, salvage, rebuilt, or no title — and the title's jurisdiction — should be clear before you wire.
  • Confirm the car is importable to your location. That's your homework, not the seller's; if the import path is unclear, step back and verify before paying.
  • Read the bill of sale before you wire. "As-is" with no warranty is normal; anything that removes inspection or payment protections is a red flag.
  • Use a third-party escrow service; never wire to a personal account. For dealer sales, a wire to the business account named on the invoice is normal; for private-party sales, use escrow.

Idealvehicle-condition diligence; factor missing items into risk and price

  • Ask for the export certificate. If the car was exported from Japan recently, the deregistration document can help confirm provenance and timing. If unavailable: certificates for older imports are often filed away, so absence is a risk signal, not automatic fraud.
  • Ask for underbody, engine bay, and rear-quarter photos. Those areas reveal rust and repair work that hero shots can hide.If unavailable: the car may still be in transit or storage; review existing media and ask for fresh shots once it's accessible.
  • Consider a third-party pre-purchase inspection (PPI). A specialist inspection can catch issues that change the price. If unavailable: a PPI is often not feasible while the car is still overseas, so price the added uncertainty instead of treating it as proof of fraud.

Description

Year: 1999 Make: Daihatsu Drivetrain: - Transmission: Manual Mileage: 7,055 mi Availability: In Stock Ready to Ship Engine: EF-SE Color: Passo White VIN: S210P-0007630 Body: Dump Truck Stock: BUC71607 1999 Daihatsu Hi-Jet PTO HD Dump EFI 4WD, finished in Passo White a Japanese-market vehicle now in stock with us. The engine is recorded as the EF-SE. The EF family powered Daihatsu's kei vehicles for well over a decade, and its longevity is a reasonable proxy for how sound the basic design was. This Hi-Jet PTO HD Dump EFI 4WD is fitted with a manual gearbox. On the specification it carries…

selectable 2WD / 4WD high / 4WD low. Recorded mileage on this 1999 Hi-Jet PTO HD Dump EFI 4WD is 7,055. That reading of 7,055 came to us without a unit attached, and we have left it exactly as found. Daihatsu sold the Hijet in an unusually wide spread of factory body styles flatbed, PTO dump, panel van, canvas top, the extended-cab Jumbo from 1983 and the four-seat Deck Van from 1988 because Japanese buyers specified them for particular trades. Daihatsu supplies the Hijet to other makers for rebadging Toyota since 2011, Subaru since 2012 and it was licence-built abroad as the Piaggio Porter in Italy and the Asia Towner in Korea. The Hijet was built to be maintained by its owner rather than by a dealer: the seats tip forward, the engine is right there, and the service points are deliberately obvious. Four-wheel drive on a dump body matters most when the bed is full and the ground is soft which is usually the same moment. A 1999 build date puts this one well past the 25-year federal import threshold. Price on this one is $23,900.

Asking-price context

JDMBUYSELL comparison data for this Daihatsu Hijet; the basis line states the exact pool used.

Figures are shown in your selected display currency, and fall back to USD when live rates are unavailable. Active asking-price pools use current active listings, not verified sale prices or an appraisal. For sold pools: sale price when reported; otherwise, the listing’s last asking price. Samples of fewer than 5 comparable listings are not shown. Lighter shading means fewer examples, not higher precision. Source: JDMBUYSELL listing data.
