Smart buyer checklist

Treat this as two groups. Required items protect you from payment loss and fraud — if a seller resists any of them, walk away. Ideal items help you assess the car's condition; when one is missing, factor it into your risk and your offer rather than treating it as automatic fraud.

Requiredfraud and payment-loss prevention

  • Confirm title status. Clean, salvage, rebuilt, or no title — and the title's jurisdiction — should be clear before you wire.
  • Confirm the car is importable to your location. That's your homework, not the seller's; if the import path is unclear, step back and verify before paying.
  • Read the bill of sale before you wire. "As-is" with no warranty is normal; anything that removes inspection or payment protections is a red flag.
  • Use a third-party escrow service; never wire to a personal account. For dealer sales, a wire to the business account named on the invoice is normal; for private-party sales, use escrow.

Idealvehicle-condition diligence; factor missing items into risk and price

  • Ask for the export certificate. If the car was exported from Japan recently, the deregistration document can help confirm provenance and timing. If unavailable: certificates for older imports are often filed away, so absence is a risk signal, not automatic fraud.
  • Ask for underbody, engine bay, and rear-quarter photos. Those areas reveal rust and repair work that hero shots can hide.If unavailable: the car may still be in transit or storage; review existing media and ask for fresh shots once it's accessible.
  • Consider a third-party pre-purchase inspection (PPI). A specialist inspection can catch issues that change the price. If unavailable: a PPI is often not feasible while the car is still overseas, so price the added uncertainty instead of treating it as proof of fraud.

Acty Truck: 36800 km on the odometer and a condition of used. The engine is recorded as the E07A 660cc. Honda built the E07A oversquare a 66.0mm bore against a 64.0mm stroke which is why it would rather rev than lug. The 1997 Acty Truck came with a 4-speed manual gearbox, and that is what this one has, an ultra-low gear and an ultra-low reverse included. The Acty's defining trick is where the engine lives: mounted transversely amidships under the load bed rather than under the cab. It looks like a cab-over, but structurally it is a mid-engined vehicle. Honda's four-wheel-drive Actys use an on-demand Real Time system built around a viscous coupling, so drive goes rearward when it is needed rather than when the driver remembers to select it. Getting 350kg of rated payload out of a mid-engined layout is harder than doing it with the engine under the seats, and Honda did it anyway. A 660cc engine will not tow across a state, but it will do yard, field and site work all day on very little fuel. Japanese makers also held to a voluntary 64PS ceiling for the class. A 1997 build date puts this one well past the 25-year federal import threshold. It is listed at $5,000.

Asking-price context

JDMBUYSELL comparison data for this Honda Acty; the basis line states the exact pool used.

Figures are shown in your selected display currency, and fall back to USD when live rates are unavailable. Active asking-price pools use current active listings, not verified sale prices or an appraisal. For sold pools: sale price when reported; otherwise, the listing’s last asking price. Samples of fewer than 5 comparable listings are not shown. Lighter shading means fewer examples, not higher precision. Source: JDMBUYSELL listing data.
