Smart buyer checklist

Treat this as two groups. Required items protect you from payment loss and fraud — if a seller resists any of them, walk away. Ideal items help you assess the car's condition; when one is missing, factor it into your risk and your offer rather than treating it as automatic fraud.

Requiredfraud and payment-loss prevention

  • Confirm title status. Clean, salvage, rebuilt, or no title — and the title's jurisdiction — should be clear before you wire.
  • Confirm the car is importable to your location. That's your homework, not the seller's; if the import path is unclear, step back and verify before paying.
  • Read the bill of sale before you wire. "As-is" with no warranty is normal; anything that removes inspection or payment protections is a red flag.
  • Use a third-party escrow service; never wire to a personal account. For dealer sales, a wire to the business account named on the invoice is normal; for private-party sales, use escrow.

Idealvehicle-condition diligence; factor missing items into risk and price

  • Ask for the export certificate. If the car was exported from Japan recently, the deregistration document can help confirm provenance and timing. If unavailable: certificates for older imports are often filed away, so absence is a risk signal, not automatic fraud.
  • Ask for underbody, engine bay, and rear-quarter photos. Those areas reveal rust and repair work that hero shots can hide.If unavailable: the car may still be in transit or storage; review existing media and ask for fresh shots once it's accessible.
  • Consider a third-party pre-purchase inspection (PPI). A specialist inspection can catch issues that change the price. If unavailable: a PPI is often not feasible while the car is still overseas, so price the added uncertainty instead of treating it as proof of fraud.

E07A 660cc 3-cylinder single-cam. The 660cc engine drives through a manual gearbox. By 1997 the E07A was a thoroughly known quantity, having run in Honda's kei range for years by then. The Acty runs a de Dion rear axle with MacPherson struts at the front, a more considered arrangement than the plain leaf-sprung beam most of the class used. Japanese enthusiasts call the Acty no NSX "the NSX of the farm roads" - because it was the only mid-engined kei truck, in the same layout as Honda's supercar. The Acty's defining trick is where the engine lives: mounted transversely amidships under the load bed rather than under the cab. It looks like a cab-over, but structurally it is a mid-engined vehicle. Because Honda kept the Acty mid-engined throughout, the E07A in this one sits behind the seats and under the deck rather than beneath them every rival put its engine under the seat or at the very back. A 1997 Acty is old enough to be simple and new enough to be usable, which is most of why this generation gets exported rather than scrapped. A 1997 build date puts this one well past the 25-year federal import threshold. Price on this one is $6,614.

Asking-price context

JDMBUYSELL comparison data for this Honda Acty; the basis line states the exact pool used.

Figures are shown in your selected display currency, and fall back to USD when live rates are unavailable. Active asking-price pools use current active listings, not verified sale prices or an appraisal. For sold pools: sale price when reported; otherwise, the listing’s last asking price. Samples of fewer than 5 comparable listings are not shown. Lighter shading means fewer examples, not higher precision. Source: JDMBUYSELL listing data.
