Smart buyer checklist

Treat this as two groups. Required items protect you from payment loss and fraud — if a seller resists any of them, walk away. Ideal items help you assess the car's condition; when one is missing, factor it into your risk and your offer rather than treating it as automatic fraud.

Required fraud and payment-loss prevention

  • Confirm title status. Clean, salvage, rebuilt, or no title — and the title's jurisdiction — should be clear before you wire.
  • Confirm the car is importable to your location. That's your homework, not the seller's; if the import path is unclear, step back and verify before paying.
  • Read the bill of sale before you wire. "As-is" with no warranty is normal; anything that removes inspection or payment protections is a red flag.
  • Use a third-party escrow service; never wire to a personal account. For dealer sales, a wire to the business account named on the invoice is normal; for private-party sales, use escrow.

Ideal vehicle-condition diligence; factor missing items into risk and price

  • Ask for the export certificate. If the car was exported from Japan recently, the deregistration document can help confirm provenance and timing. If unavailable: certificates for older imports are often filed away, so absence is a risk signal, not automatic fraud.
  • Ask for underbody, engine bay, and rear-quarter photos. Those areas reveal rust and repair work that hero shots can hide.If unavailable: the car may still be in transit or storage; review existing media and ask for fresh shots once it's accessible.
  • Consider a third-party pre-purchase inspection (PPI). A specialist inspection can catch issues that change the price. If unavailable: a PPI is often not feasible while the car is still overseas, so price the added uncertainty instead of treating it as proof of fraud.

Transmission Rear Wheel Drive xxx kilometers = xxx Miles (Will update later) NO RUST, Everything Works, Runs Great!! AFTERMARKET IMPERFECTIONS ON THIS VEHICLE Currently the paint is very bad (will be painting the full car soon) - There is some damage (we are repairing) - OEM wheels are ugly (we most likely will be putting cool new wheels) - OEM suspension is boring (we will probably be adding coilovers) ABOUT THIS VEHICLE The car came to us from someone in the USA that damaged the car and couldn't do anything with it. The car runs and drives great and there is no rust so it's a shame to waste this car that can be very nice some day!!! We will be doing a lot of work to repair and restore the car to make it look really nice!! We will upload new pictures when the vehicle looks very nice. The car has no rust, it runs and drives great. We do not have a timeframe to complete the vehicle but we will be taking care of the cosmetic imperfections when time permits. The primary difference between the UCF20 and UCF21 second-generation Lexus LS400 / Toyota Celsior (1994-2000) is that the UCF20 designation indicates a model without factory air suspension, while the UCF21 designation indicates a model equipped with factory air suspension. UCF20: Standard coil spring suspension. This setup is much more common, especially in North American 1998-2000 models, and is known for long-term reliability and lower maintenance costs. UCF21: Factory electronic air suspension system. In some international and Japanese domestic market (JDM) trims, it also included higher-end luxury add-ons like rear-seat packages. Years vs. Chassis Code: A common online myth states that UCF20 means 1995-1997 models and UCF21 means 1998-2000 facelift models. In reality, both chassis codes span across the entire 1995-2000 production run depending purely on whether the car left the factory with air ride. FINANCING Traditional banks typically will not allow financing for any vehicle older than 10 years old. For this reason most banks will not do auto loan for a JDM car. PLUS the fact that JDM cars vin number are NOT 17digits which makes banks nervous! We recommend using a collector car financing company like one of the three mentioned below. - / To be approved you will need to have proof of employment for at least 6 months, have good credit history (helps if you financed a car before). You will need at least 680 credit score and at least 15% down payment.

Asking-price context

JDMBUYSELL comparison data for this Toyota Celsior; the basis line states the exact pool used.

Figures are shown in your selected display currency, and fall back to USD when live rates are unavailable.
