from a few light dings, chips, and scuffs, the paint is in good nick, and this rugged rig is fresh off a recent service. Offered with only 138k verified and documented miles on the clock, this terrific Toyota is barely broken in. Ready to be daily-driven, overlanded, and anything in between, this future Japanese Classic is turn-key and ready to rock. The cabin is simple, ergonomic, and was clearly cared for by the last owner. Access to the interior is made more seamless with functional keyless entry. The driver benefits from a tilt-adjustable steering column to find the perfect driving position. Power windows, electric locks, and power mirrors all work in typical Toyota fashion. The dashboard lacks any cracking or fading and houses dual SRS airbags. Seat-mounted and curtain airbags are also on standby. The center stack is close by and within arm’s reach. The large buttons on the OEM audio make for easy adjustments with winter gloves on, and a subwoofer pumps in the bass for a stellar listening experience. The climate control system below works like a charm and delivers piping hot heat and cool A/C. Importantly for the summer ahead, a new A/C compressor was installed, so those within the cabin stay cool as a cucumber. A large glovebox and dash-mounted driver storage compartment afford passengers additional space for their bits and bobs, and the center console is sizable, too. Overland drivers will love the dash mounted OEM field monitor and rear wall charger when heading up to the campsite. The seats are upholstered in a durable black cloth. The front seats have integrated armrests, and the rear seats can split fold, and tumble forward when more cargo space is needed. The headliner and carpets are in good shape, and as a whole, there is little to complain about within the cabin, and we feel the new owner will agree. Under the skin, this body-on-frame truck is tough as it gets. Propulsion comes from Toyota’s legendary 1GR FE. The 4.0L springs to life quickly thanks to a new 12v battery and is fresh off an oil and filter service. To keep the oil level full, one of our trained techs replaced the weary old VVT hardline seals with new units. We also replaced the timing cover gaskets for good measure. It starts up with the twist of the key, and is quiet and runs with low vibration. New spark plugs work to properly atomize fuel, and the V6 feels healthy as a horse. It’s linked to a stout automatic gearbox that shifts responsively. The transfer case allows for the driver to access 4WD easily, and a rear locker and low range can be engaged when you want to take this Toyota off the beaten path. It gets up to highway speeds with ease, and the throttle response is decent. To slow down, large disk brakes and standard ABS are on hand. The suspension is predictable and offers loads of ground clearance. The power steering is direct, and grip comes from four 32′′ Falken tires. Turn key and ready to roll, this versatile SUV is ready to conquer the highway, trails, and the beach!
