Description

In the year 2000, when this Altezza rolled off the production line, Toyota of Japan was really hitting its stride. The brand's commitment to rear-drive sports cars was still strong, and this communicative and fun platform perfectly demonstrates that. ort wheels. Finished in a lovely Baltic Blue (752), the paint is in good shape aside from a few light chips, dings, and scuffs. Fresh off a recent service, this ride is offered with a mere 132k verified and documented miles on the ticker. A revvy engine, reflexive handling, and a six-speed manual aren’t normally spec’d in a compact saloon, but this model proves that you can have your cake and have it too. Roomy, safe, and reliable, this RS200 is a bona fide Japanese Classic that can be driven daily, autocrossed, or set up as a canyon carver. Turn key and ready to roll, this unit won’t last long! The cabin features an ergonomic design and several power amenities, safety features, and upgrades. Access to the interior is made more seamless thanks to factory keyless entry, which works like a charm. The driver has a clear view of the road ahead, and a tilt-adjustable steering column allows the pilot to find the ideal driving position. A Tomei shift knob and sporty OEM steering wheel feel just right in the palms of your hands. The dashboard lacks any cracking or fading and has a modern, swept design. Dual SRS airbags are standard, as are ABS brakes for those who might be safety conscious. Power folding mirrors, power locks, and power windows all function in typical Toyota fashion, making daily use more enjoyable. The automatic climate controls are close by and the large knobs are easy to adjust. Cold A/C and piping hot heat are available so that the cabin remains comfortable, and below is an AddZest audio upgrade. It sounds decent for its age and matches the interior aesthetic. The gray cloth seats are comfortable and made of a durable material. They lack any major rips, stains, or holes and are supportive. The rear bench includes the ski pass-through option, as well. The headliner, door cards, and carpets have all withstood the past 25 years without sustaining major damage. Aside from an ever-so-slight misalignment of the glovebox and some minor stitch separation on the bottom of the driver’s seat, it’s really hard to critique this interior. Even the owner’s manuals and maintenance booklets are included with the purchase! This chassis is sublime, simply put. The zingy 3S-GE sings all the way to redline, and is fresh off an oil and filter service. The 2.0L fires right up when you turn the key and runs like a top. One of our trained techs replaced the valve cover gasket with a new one, and added a set of spark plugs to properly combust the fuel. Best of all, a new timing belt and water pump service were performed. Good for another ten years and 100,000 kilometers, we also took care a coolant flush and added a new thermostat for good measure. The 3S is linked to a communicative six-speed gearbox. Gear changes are rewarding and the transmission lacks any hitches or grinds. Power is funneled to the rear axle, and this RS200 model comes with a factory Torsen LSD if you plan to get down and dirty in the corners. The lower ride height looks appealing, and new coilovers keep the sedan firmly planted to the road. The ABS brakes are grabby and direct slowing this Toyota down with aplomb. The power-assisted steering is on-point and benefits from a fluid exchange. Grip is handled by four new tires. Freshly aligned, this salon goes right where you point it, and puts a grin on your face every time you get behind the wheel!
