Developed as a mini people mover, the Toyota bB immediately developed a cult following. Efficient, reliable, and stylish, models like this 2000 hatchback were practical to use and affordable to purchase. Finished in a striking Spectra Blue Mica (8M6), this lowered five-seater is set off by chrome mirror caps, an optional OEM grille, chrome tail light surrounds, and 18′′ TRD alloys. Aside from

a few light dings, chips, and scuffs, the body is in fine shape, and this terrific transporter is fresh off a recent service. Offered with only 83k verified and documented miles on the clock, this ride has logged a fraction of the use of most stateside Scions. Determined, fun to motor, and inexpensive to operate, this Japanese Classic would be a dependable daily driver, charismatic kid hauler, or wicked weekend Cars and Coffee cruiser! Access inside the cabin is seamless thanks to functional keyless entry. Once inside, the driver is greeted by a tilt-adjustable steering column to find the ideal driving position. A bench seat and column shifter are the main differences from the American models, and bB die hards love this combination of options. To make daily use more enjoyable, power folding mirrors, electric locks, and power windows all work in typical Toyota fashion. An optional moonroof retracts for additional ventilation, but if you want to maintain a comfy cockpit with the windows up, piping hot heat and cold A/C are on hand. The door cards are in good nick, as are the carpets. The seats had been protected against wear with seat covers in Japan. While they showed some wear, the cloth underneath is in above-average shape! The rear row can split fold, and tumble forward to accommodate larger cargo. The OEM touchscreen headunit is framed by a stylized radio bezel, supports rearview camera access, and sounds great, supplementing your commute with some tunes. The dashboard lacks any cracking or fading, and aside from some light residue from some light stains on the headliner and some wear on the interior plastics, it’s hard to nitpick the cockpit. Even dual SRS airbags are standard equipment for some added peace of mind for those who are safety-conscious. Under the skin, this front wheel drive platform shares its underpinnings with our domestic Scions. That makes service and parts options easy as they come. The 2NZ-FE engine under the bonnet jolts to life with the twist of the key courtesy of a new 12v battery, and is fresh off an oil and filter service. The 1.3L benefits from a new engine air filter and a new set of spark plugs to give it a fresh start here in the US. Linked to a stout automatic, the bB shifts properly and is peppy when accelerating. A transmission fluid service aims to keep it that way, and the gearing works for our higher speed American interstate travel. To shore up the driveline, we replaced the rear wheel bearings. This Toyota is a competent highway cruiser and more fun in the twisties than you might expect. Lowered on Tanabe DF210 springs, the wheel gap is minuscule, and the center of gravity is low. The power steering is light and responsive, and new front sway bar endlinks were added for inspection purposes. The brakes are confident, and grip is handled by four new tires mounted and balanced at each corner. Freshly aligned, this hatch tracks straight as an arrow, and the new Falken rubber should last for tens of thousands of miles to come.
