The same can be said for the 1KZ-TE, this rigs durable four banger powerplant. The engine is fresh off an oil and filter service and churns to life with the twist of the key. A new fuel filter strains unwanted contaminants from the diesel and the 1K feels healthy as a horse, and pulls strong to redline. Power is fed through an automatic gearbox. Its geared properly for highway use and shifts as it should. The selective transfer case allows the pilot to choose between powering the rear axle or both. The hubs can be locked electronically and a low range affords more torque to be applied to loose surfaces. We repaired a leak on the side of the transfer case for added peace of mind. The long wheelbase is good for highway use where road imperfections are distributed. The suspension offers tons of ground clearance and one of our trained techs added a set of rear sway bar bushings for state inspection. This large SUV slows down with confidence thanks to new front brake pads, rotors, and hoses. The rear pads were replaced as well, for good measure. The power steering is bolstered by a new steering stabilizer and grip is handled by four new all-terrain tires mounted and balanced at each corner. To prolong tire life, we also freshly aligned this Prado and it drives straight as an arrow!
