The Mazda Scrum was so similar that many parts can be interchanged with the Suzuki Carry. This helped Mazda add to its vehicle catalog without the large infrastructure investment. Mazda also offered a number of accessories that could be fitted during production like lift gates and dump beds. This Mazda Scrum has a dump bed fitted to it. allowing its 750lbs payload to be "dumped" out easily. Powered by an electric over hydraulic single ram it raises the bead to near 90*. The control for this ram is located in the cab, a rocker switch for "DOWN and UP". Also fitted to this 4x4 was a differential lock and axel lock.
