n. Lovingly owned for the past three years here in the Pacific Northwest, the van has received several notable modern upgrades while keeping the original Vantech craftsmanship intact. These include a newer, highly efficient Dometic fridge, a 200Ah lithium house battery system, a Sony head unit with a backup camera, Australian-made insulated window covers, and a protective undercarriage coating. Otherwise, this is an all-original, unmolested Vantech build. The van chassis is a 1997 Toyota Hiace GL Wagon, powered by the legendary and ultra-reliable 2.8-liter “3L” diesel engine. It is paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission and a full-time 4WD system that distributes power 50/50 to the front and rear wheels. The center differential is mechanically regulated by a viscous coupling-the exact same robust system found in the US-market Previa All-Trac. It is exceptionally capable in snow, gravel, mud, and low-traction conditions. The camper portion features a brilliant design that maximizes both passenger capacity and camping comfort. The lower dinette offers comfortable seating for five, and the second-row bench flips easily to face forward for driving or rearward for camp dining. With seatbelts for five in the back and three up front, it legally seats a total of eight passengers. The lower floor effortlessly transforms into a large bed. Above it, the upper bunk comfortably sleeps two adults when extended, or slides away to offer about 6’2′′ of standing room in the main cabin. The upper section features two Arctic Tern/Seitz-style windows with built-in screens and shades, paired with a new Maxxair fan with a rain vent. The rear area features a full galley complete with a sink, a two-burner propane stove, a newer Dometic AC/DC fridge, and a sink plumbed to 20 liters of fresh water and 20 liters of grey water storage. Various cabinetry above and below offers plenty of storage space. Powering the onboard coach systems is the newer 200Ah Lithium Iron Phosphate battery setup, managed by high-end Victron charging components. For off-grid camping in cold weather, it features a premium Webasto diesel heater that plumbs directly into the vehicle’s main fuel tank. Interior curtains all around and 50/50 sliding windows on the first level add to the overall comfort. These high-tier Vantech builds are becoming nearly impossible to find, especially with such low mileage. This rig is completely sorted, dialed-in, and ready for its next owner to hit the trails.
