Otherwise, this is an all-original, unmolested Vantech build. The van chassis is a 1997 Toyota Hiace GL Wagon, powered by the legendary and ultra-reliable 2.8-liter “3L” diesel engine. It is paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission and a full-time 4WD system that distributes power 50/50 to the front and rear wheels. The center differential is mechanically regulated by a viscous coupling-the exact same robust system found in the US-market Previa All-Trac. It is exceptionally capable in snow, gravel, mud, and low-traction conditions. The camper portion features a brilliant design that maximizes both passenger capacity and camping comfort. The lower dinette offers comfortable seating for five, and the second-row bench flips easily to face forward for driving or rearward for camp dining. With seatbelts for five in the back and three up front, it legally seats a total of eight passengers. The lower floor effortlessly transforms into a large bed.
