Smart buyer checklist

Treat this as two groups. Required items protect you from payment loss and fraud — if a seller resists any of them, walk away. Ideal items help you assess the car's condition; when one is missing, factor it into your risk and your offer rather than treating it as automatic fraud.

Required fraud and payment-loss prevention

  • Confirm title status. Clean, salvage, rebuilt, or no title — and the title's jurisdiction — should be clear before you wire.
  • Confirm the car is importable to your location. That's your homework, not the seller's; if the import path is unclear, step back and verify before paying.
  • Read the bill of sale before you wire. "As-is" with no warranty is normal; anything that removes inspection or payment protections is a red flag.
  • Use a third-party escrow service; never wire to a personal account. For dealer sales, a wire to the business account named on the invoice is normal; for private-party sales, use escrow.

Ideal vehicle-condition diligence; factor missing items into risk and price

  • Ask for the export certificate. If the car was exported from Japan recently, the deregistration document can help confirm provenance and timing. If unavailable: certificates for older imports are often filed away, so absence is a risk signal, not automatic fraud.
  • Ask for underbody, engine bay, and rear-quarter photos. Those areas reveal rust and repair work that hero shots can hide.If unavailable: the car may still be in transit or storage; review existing media and ask for fresh shots once it's accessible.
  • Consider a third-party pre-purchase inspection (PPI). A specialist inspection can catch issues that change the price. If unavailable: a PPI is often not feasible while the car is still overseas, so price the added uncertainty instead of treating it as proof of fraud.

first place. They’re tough, practical, comfortable, and built to handle just about whatever the day throws at them. Finished in Obsidian Black with just 65,090 verified miles, this Terrano is a great looking example with plenty of classic 90s Nissan charm. Whether it’s getting you to work, tackling a rural mail route, or heading out for the weekend, this is an SUV you’ll find plenty of reasons to put to use. Under the hood is Nissan’s 3.3L VG33E V6, an engine with a well earned reputation for being incredibly tough and dependable. These motors are known to last for hundreds of thousands of miles with proper care, and with just 65,090 verified miles on this Terrano, there’s plenty to be excited about. The VG33E was also used in U.S.-market Pathfinders and Frontiers, making routine maintenance items easy to source here in the United States. The V6 is paired with a smooth shifting 4-speed automatic transmission that makes for an easy, comfortable drive. Nissan’s selectable 4WD system adds another layer of versatility, offering 2WD for better fuel efficiency, AUTO for everyday driving with four wheel drive engaging as needed, and LOCK for maintaining four wheel drive in slippery or offroad conditions. A separate transfer case selector offers high and low range gearing, giving you the extra capability needed for steep terrain and more demanding offroad driving. Nissan put a surprising amount of thought into the Terrano’s interior, with a few features you wouldn’t necessarily expect to find in a 90s SUV. Power windows, power door locks, and power folding and adjusting mirrors are all on hand, along with power-adjustable headlight height. One of the more unique features is the dash mounted heads up display showing pitch and roll angles along with an altimeter. A separate digital compass and outside temperature display add another nice touch. Overhead, a power tilting and sliding sunroof lets in plenty of fresh air and natural light. Climate control keeps the cabin comfortable with cold A/C and hot heat, while a Kenwood head unit, front and rear cupholders, and a convenient sunglasses holder round out the interior amenities. Out back, the generous cargo area offers plenty of room for luggage, tools, or everyday essentials. The rear seats can also be folded down when additional storage space is needed, making this Terrano just as practical as it is comfortable. Finished in KH3 Obsidian Black, this Terrano is a great looking example of Nissan’s classic 90s SUV styling. A set of Bradley V alloy wheels looks right at home beneath the pronounced fender flares, while the front brush guard and CIBIE fog lights add to its rugged 4×4 appeal. Around back, a swing out tire carrier houses a full size spare complete with its protective cover. Additional exterior features include OEM rain guards, side steps, a fender mirror, roof rails, and a rear roof spoiler. The paint presents well overall, although there is some clear coat fading on the hood, which is consistent with the vehicle’s age. With its tasteful upgrades and well chosen accessories, this Terrano is a great example of how good these SUVs can look. As with all of our vehicles, this Terrano has been thoroughly inspected and serviced by our in-house technicians. Among the more significant maintenance items completed were the replacement of the rear main seal, driver’s side front axle seal, and rear transmission output seal. We also installed new rear shocks, a fresh battery, and a new engine air filter, along with completing an oil and filter change. A new left brake light bulb was fitted, and lastly, all fluids were checked and replaced as needed. With these important maintenance items already addressed, this Terrano is ready for many more miles of dependable service. There’s a lot to appreciate about this Terrano. With just 65,090 verified miles, a reputation for long term reliability, and the added confidence of the maintenance completed by our team, it’s an SUV that makes a lot of sense. The familiar Pathfinder mechanicals make ownership straightforward, while the versatile 4WD system and generous cargo space give it the flexibility to handle everything from daily driving to rural mail routes and weekend adventures. Add in its great looks, tasteful upgrades, and an attractive price point, and you’ve got a Terrano that’s every bit as appealing to own as it is to look at.
