Fresh off a recent service, we’ve given this 2L-TE some beneficial maintenance for the road ahead, starting with a new 12v battery we dropped in to aid ignition. We replaced some weary old serpentine belts with new units, and with the maintenance performed this four banger zips up to highway speeds with haste. An automatic gearbox benefits from new shifter bushings and puts the power to the ground reliably, at all four wheels. For the enthusiast looking to go off-road, the center differential can be locked, and low gear is on standby should you need it. To shore up the drivetrain, the front left axle was also replaced here in the shop. The stock suspension is impressive. It handles larger imperfections like any good truck should, yet feels comfortable and composed on pavement. To increase stability at our higher US speed limits, a new steering stabilizer bar was installed by us, too. The ABS brakes bite hard when called upon, and the gunmetal-colored alloys are wrapped in fresh Falken All Terrains.
