Description

*Mechanic's Special* The C35 Nissan Laurel was a benchmark model for Nissan in the 90's, and a direct competitor to the Chaser. If you're looking to dodge the Toyota tax and get into a frugal four-door, our 1997 is a fantastic candidate. ***This Nissan Laurel has excessive residue in the fuel tank and we would recommend cleaning or replacing the unit entirely. It runs and drives, but will need some mechanical attention to be fully roadworthy. You must bring a trailer to pick up this Laurel or have it shipped. etitor to the Toyota Chaser. If you’re looking to dodge the Toyota tax and get into a frugal four-door, our 1997 is a fantastic candidate. It can be considered a project, as it has some sludge in the fuel tank, but the overall condition of this example leaves little to be desired, making it far more than just a mechanic’s special. In Medalist trim, this Laurel is stylish, set off by an OEM parking pole and offered with an impressive 44k verified/documented miles. The chassis is in above-average condition, lacking major dents, dings, or corrosion, and aside from some slight flaking on the mirror caps and chips in the paint, the Pearl White (QT1) paintwork is in fine shape. This C35 could make for a perfect project, and it goes without saying the Laurel is a perfect representation of one of Nissan’s best eras. If you’re handy with a wrench, this is a Japanese Classic you won’t want to miss out on. The interior is well crafted, trimmed in an executive tan cloth, and is packed with a full slate of functional power amenities to make daily driving a walk in the park. Safety was prioritized with this interior, and dual SRS airbags are present up front and in the sides of the bucket seats to ease your passengers. The driver can optimize driving comfort thanks to a 4 way power adjustable seat and a tilt adjustable steering column. The dash is ergonomic in design and features a few hidey holes for your personal belongings. It tucks nicely into the front of the cabin and the center stack features functional OEM audio and digital automatic climate control. Cold A/C works well for the warmer months ahead and hot heat is on tap too. Power windows, locks, and electric folding side mirrors work as advertised and assist daily use. The rear bench can squeeze in a few additional passengers, and the boot is spacious to stow away your goods. The headliner is clean, and the carpets are protected by a set of neat OEM optional floormats. The cabin is certainly a highlight of this Laurel, and save for a droopy headliner and a cracked shifter trim, the next owner should be over the moon about its condition! We even retained the original owner’s manuals and maintenance booklets! The RB20DE under the bonnet is a fan-favorite, equipped with NEO VVL technology and a slew of easy to service mechanicals. Ours is fresh off an oil and filter service and this I6 cranks over with haste. It runs like a top and accelerates confidently up to speed, although we’d recommend the next owner take care of a new timing belt and water pump before driving the vehicle extensively. Power is sent via a smooth shifting automatic gearbox to the rear wheels. The stock suspension is comfortable, the ABS brakes bite hard, and the factory mesh alloys are wrapped in good rubber. The fuel tank is shared with the S14 platform, and would be an easy swap for an experienced home mechanic or DIY buff. This project has great bones, and is just a few fixes away from being a killer daily driver!
