Comfortable, reliable, and sure to stand out amongst traffic, this Soarer would be a cool commuter, weekend warrior, or a special show car. Ahead of its time and just as enjoyable in the 21st century, it’s no wonder we love importing these Japanese Classics! For a cockpit designed in the early 90’s, the Soarer’s interior was well ahead of the curve. It featured ergonomic styling, premium materials, and enough power equipment to make daily use a walk in the park. A far cry from tattered and torn leather examples seen here stateside, the plush cloth upholstery was a much better fit, in our opinion, and the sweeping vinyl dash is in good shape too, showing no discernible defects apart from a crack on the gauge hood. The center stack is space-age in design, featuring integrated automatic climate control and premium OEM audio, which is functional but sounds a bit weak due to an amplifier issue. For seasonal drives, cold A/C and hot heat work on command. Comfort is a priority, and both driver and passenger benefit from power-adjustable seating. The pilot also gains access to a tilt and telescoping steering column, which frames a clear readout for the digital instrumentation. Our records show the digital cluster was previously replaced, and we are unable to verify the current mileage, although the cockpit condition speaks volumes about how this Soarer was cared for. That’s not to say the interior is perfect, as the steering wheel shows a bit of wear and there are some carpet stains. Still, it features plenty of power equipment, like functioning automatic windows, locks, and power folding side mirrors. The power moonroof is a rare option and works like a charm, unfurling rapidly to let in some additional airflow. Overall, this spacious cabin is sure to impress, and this timeless Toyota design really stands the test of time.
