Description

This 1997 C35 Club S would be an ideal daily driver or performance-oriented project due to its similarities and shared parts with the fabled S-Chassis. ***This Nissan Laurel has a leaking fuel tank and is unable to pass VA state safety inspection. It runs and drives, but will need some mechanical attention to be fully roadworthy. You must bring a trailer to pick up this Laurel or have it shipped. The Laurel was Nissan’s midsized sport sedan meant to compete with the likes of the Toyota Chaser and Mitsubishi Galant. By 1998 Nissan had perfected the chassis, and this 1997 C35 Club S would be an

ideal daily driver or performance-oriented project due to its similarities and shared parts with the fabled S-Chassis. The Hunter Green (DT2) paintwork is rare in its own right, and the cosmetics are in fair shape save for a few moderate scuffs, scratches, dents, and dings. It’s also a stylish sedan, set off by OEM side skirts and clean factory alloys. Better yet, the 159k miles on the clock are verified and documented. Enthusiasts should value the battle-tested RB20 powerplant and dependable rear-drive layout, and although the fuel tank has a slight leak near the top, this Japanese Classic is rock solid, and is an ideal new addition for any Nissan nut! The interior is in above average shape, trimmed in a sporty patterned gray cloth, and is packed with a full slate of functional power amenities to make daily driving a walk in the park. Safety was prioritized with this interior, and dual SRS airbags are present up front and in the sides of the bucket seats to ease your passengers. The driver can optimize driving comfort thanks to a tilt adjustable steering column. The dash is ergonomic in design and features a few hidey holes for your personal belongings. It tucks nicely into the front of the cabin and the center stack features functional OEM audio and digital automatic climate control. Cold A/C works well for the warmer months ahead and hot heat is on tap too. Power windows, locks, and electric folding side mirrors work as advertised and assist daily use. The rear bench can squeeze in a few additional passengers, and the boot is spacious to stow away your goods. The headliner is tidy, and the carpets are protected by a set of plush OEM mats. The cabin is certainly a highlight of this Laurel, and we even have the original owner’s manual and maintenance booklet on hand to add some history to this sport sedan! The RB20DE under the bonnet is a real gem, boasting NEO VVL technology and a slew of easy to service mechanicals. Ours is fresh off an oil and filter service and this I6 cranks over with haste. It runs like a top and idles smoothly, and the timing belt was inspected here to ensure you won’t have to spend boatloads on immediate maintenance. Power is sent via a smooth shifting automatic gearbox to the rear wheels. The stock suspension is comfortable, and the steering is light and easy to maneuver. The ABS brakes bite hard, and the factory alloys are wrapped in good Dunlop tires. The fuel tank is shared with the S14 platform, and would be an easy swap for an experienced home mechanic or DIY buff. This project has great bones, and is just a few fixes away from being a killer daily driver!
