About

About JDMBUYSELL™

JDMBUYSELL™ connects people who want a Japanese domestic market car with the dealers, importers, exporters, and private sellers who have them — worldwide, in one place. This page explains what the marketplace is, who runs it, and how we work to keep it trustworthy.

What JDMBUYSELL is

JDMBUYSELL is a marketplace for JDM vehicles. It brings listings from dealers, private sellers, importers, and exporters into a single searchable catalog, so buyers can compare cars across countries instead of hopping between dozens of individual seller websites.

We are not a dealership. JDMBUYSELL does not own, buy, or sell the cars listed — every vehicle is offered directly by the seller shown on its listing, and the sale is arranged between buyer and seller. The marketplace's job is discovery: surfacing the right cars, the people selling them, and the context buyers need to make a confident decision.

The team behind the site comes from inside the JDM world. Before starting JDMBUYSELL, the founder co-founded a JDM import operation that ran from 2004 to 2009, bringing hundreds of Japanese cars into North America. That background shapes how the marketplace is built — for the practical realities of buying, importing, and selling these cars, not just browsing them.

How we keep it trustworthy

A marketplace is only as useful as the confidence buyers and sellers have in it. Because JDMBUYSELL is not part of any transaction, we focus on giving both sides the information and tools to deal safely:

  • Seller reviews — buyers can read and leave reviews, so a seller's track record travels with them.
  • Scam-avoidance guidance — plain-language advice on spotting and avoiding common JDM import scams.
  • Sourced, dated reference content — chassis guides, engine specs, and import information are written and reviewed to a published editorial standard.
  • Expired-listing data — when a vehicle is no longer available, the listing is marked expired rather than left looking live.

FAQ

General

What is JDMBUYSELL?
JDMBUYSELL is an online marketplace for Japanese domestic market vehicles. It gathers listings from dealers, importers, exporters, and private sellers into one place so buyers can search and compare JDM cars without visiting dozens of separate seller websites.
Is JDMBUYSELL a dealership?
No. JDMBUYSELL does not own, buy, or sell any of the vehicles listed. It is a marketplace where dealers and private individuals list their own cars. Every vehicle is offered directly by the seller shown on its listing.
Is JDMBUYSELL involved in the sale?
No. The sale happens directly between the buyer and the seller. JDMBUYSELL is not a party to the transaction and does not handle payment. Buyers and sellers are encouraged to take their own precautions, such as a third-party escrow service, to reduce risk.
Who runs JDMBUYSELL?
JDMBUYSELL is run by a team of JDM enthusiasts. Before starting the marketplace, the founder co-founded a JDM import business that ran from 2004 to 2009, importing hundreds of Japanese vehicles into North America.
Where is JDMBUYSELL located?
JDMBUYSELL is an online marketplace, not a physical dealership — there is no lot to visit, and each vehicle is located wherever its seller is based, as shown on its listing. The company itself keeps offices in Burnaby, British Columbia and Oceanside, California.
What does “Expired” mean on a listing?
A listing is marked expired when our data indicates the vehicle is no longer available for sale. Expired listings stay visible for reference but can no longer be purchased.
How do I report a listing?
If you believe a listing breaks our terms, use the report control on the listing itself (you need to be signed in), or get in touch through the Support Center.

FAQ

Buying

How do I buy a JDM car on JDMBUYSELL?
Every vehicle is sold directly by the seller listed. To move forward, open the listing you are interested in and contact that seller using the contact option on the page. Negotiation, payment, and delivery are arranged between you and the seller.
Does JDMBUYSELL arrange shipping?
No. JDMBUYSELL does not ship vehicles. Many listed dealers and importers can arrange shipping or recommend a freight forwarder — ask the seller directly about options and cost.
Do listings come with a warranty?
JDMBUYSELL does not sell vehicles, so it does not provide warranties. Any warranty is set by the individual seller. Ask the seller what, if anything, is included.
Can I import a car from Japan through the site?
JDMBUYSELL does not import vehicles on your behalf, but you can browse listings from Japan-based exporters and estimate the landed cost before you commit. The import cost calculator covers duties, shipping, and taxes for several destination countries.

What should I check before buying?
Research the seller, ask for detailed photos and service history, and arrange an independent pre-purchase inspection rather than buying sight unseen. For private-party US sales, a title-verified escrow service can hold funds until the title transfers cleanly.

FAQ

Selling

Does JDMBUYSELL buy cars?
No. JDMBUYSELL is a marketplace, not a buyer. If you want to sell, you can list your vehicle yourself, or browse the dealer directory to approach an importer or exporter directly.
Dealer directory
How do I list my JDM car for sale?
Create a free account and post a listing with photos, specifications, and your asking price. Listings reach a JDM-focused audience and there are no transaction fees — you deal directly with the buyer.
Sell your JDM car
Can dealers and exporters list here?
Yes. JDM importers and exporters are welcome to list. We ask that every vehicle listed is one the seller actually has — listing cars that are not in the seller's possession is not allowed.
How does a dealer get added to the directory?
Registered JDM businesses can request to be added to the dealer directory. Reach out through the Support Center to be considered.
