This Japanese Classic is versatile enough to head over to the local cars and coffee, and then depart to sling some mud and traverse some trails.
Exterior Overview
Durable, refined, and easy to service, our best selling fullsize SUV is the 100 Series. This 2000 VX Limited model stands out, with its meager 71k verified and documented miles on the clock. Fresh off a recent service, this Pearl White (057) eight-seater would make for a practical year-round daily driver, wicked weekend overlander, or bombastic beach cruiser. The aesthetic is subtle, set off by 17″ Lodio Drive alloys, an OEM spoiler, and a stylish Ganador dual exhaust. Aside from a few light dings, chips, and scuffs, the body is in good shape, and this Japanese Classic is versatile enough to head over to the local Cars and Coffee, and then depart to sling some mud and traverse some trails. Iconic, collectible, and cool this terrific Toyota is a safe bet for your next ride!
Interior Overview
The cabin is massive in size and in above-average condition. The Japanese owner added some faux wood trim that adds some nice contrast to the cabin and livens it up a bit. The driver enjoys a tilt-adjustable steering column and cruise control, should this be your daily driver. Dual SRS airbags are standard, and the dashboard lacks any cracking or fading. The touchscreen infotainment system works like a charm, and the integrated climate controls are intuitive to operate. The A/C blows cold, and the heat is piping hot across both front and rear zones, so this Land Cruiser can be put to task year-round. Below, the OEM audio system resides, and it sounds crisp and clear. Power folding mirrors, electric locks, and power windows all work in typical Toyota fashion. The tan upholstery is durable and soft to the touch. The material lacks any rips, stains, or tears and is mirrored in the door cards. The headliner is in good shape, as are the carpets, and it’s clear this rig was cared for in a prior life. That’s not to say it’s perfect as the electric driver lumbar support no longer inflates and the handles to recline the rear seats are missing. In the big picture, that’s hardly a concern, and prospective purchasers will enjoy that the owner’s manuals and maintenance booklets are included with the purchase of this vehicle.
Mechanical Overview
This body on frame beast is nearly indestructible, and the same can be said for the 2UZ-FE engine. This V8 was offered in the States, so parts are easy to source! Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 4.7L springs to life courtesy of a new 12v battery. We wanted to note some tapping coming from the exhaust manifold that goes away once this engine gets warm. So fluid checks are stress-free, we replaced the hood shocks, and installed a new engine air filter and a new fuel filter. The dual overhead cam mill is linked to a stout automatic gearbox that feeds torque through a full-time 4WD system. A center locker and low range are available if your travel plans end up off the beaten path. This truck accelerates comfortably up to highway speeds and slows down promptly courtesy of standard ABS. The power steering is light and on point and has been completely refreshed. The steering rack was rebuilt, fresh fluid pumped in, and new rack bushings installed. To dial in the proper alignment, we also replaced the inner and outer tie rods. It tracks straight as an arrow, and new rear upper and lower control arms were added so this rig could safely pass its VA state safety inspection. Grip is handled by four new 33″ Falken tires. The new rubber looks tough, quells road noise, and should last for tens of thousands of miles to come.
