Exterior Overview
A hauler with style and substance, this Grand HiAce will be a hit with your family and friends. Reliable, capable, and refined, this 4WD transporter is fresh off a recent service, and has logged only 100k verified and documented miles. Powered by the same bulletproof V6 we received in the 4Runners, Tundras, and Tacomas, this 1999 is easy to maintain, and is turn key and ready to roll. Finished in a classic White Pearl over Gray Pearl Metallic (2FX), this terrific Toyota is set off by refinished aftermarket 15″ wheels, a tasteful OEM spoiler, a custom graphics package, and a set of OEM rainguards. Aside from some light chips, dings, and scuffs, the paint is in good nick, and this eight-seater would make for a dependable daily driver, full -time family hauler, or cool campsite companion. Affordable, unique, and practical Japanese Classics are our thing, and we know this van will go home with someone who appreciates its thoughtful design!
Interior Overview
The cabin is expansive, loaded with upgrades, and features decent appointments to benefit your passengers. Access inside is made more seamless thanks to functional keyless entry. The driver and passenger both benefit from standard dual SRS airbags for some added peace of mind. To find the ideal seating position, the pilot gains a power adjustable seat. Power folding mirrors, electric locks, and power windows all work in typical Toyota fashion, making daily use more enjoyable. The digital dual-zone climate system includes controls for those riding in the back. The A/C and heat work like a charm and two large moonroofs are on hand to supplement airflow. The front unit can manually tilt and the rear one is electric. Both side doors open wide and the passenger one even open and closes with a button! The rear hatch opens tall to gobble up cargo and the rear and middle rows can be slid forward when you are toting all your gear. The seats are trimmed in a soft tan cloth. The material lacks any major rips, stains or tears and is mirrored in the door cards which are in equally good shape. The middle row can also swivel 180 degrees and the front seats have drop-down ottomans to rest your legs. Sonar backup sensors are effective at keeping your insurance rates low and are seldom found on vehicles of this age. The headliner and carpets are clean throughout and a Pioneer radio upgrade supplements your commmute and sounds decent. It even has hands-free Bluetooth integration. If that wasn’t enough, two 100w wall plugs can keep your accessories charged.
Mechanical Overview
Akin to a cabover HiAce, this semi-bonneted version adds a longer wheelbase for better high speed stability, a front crumple zone for increased impact protection, and a flat loading floor for better cabin ergonomics and storage options. The 5VZ-FE engine is nearly bulletproof, and was offered in US in our 4Runners and Tacomas. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 3.4L churns to life courtesy of a new 12v battery. A new engine air filter helps the V6 to breathe freely and new accessory belts keep your onboard electronics flowing with current. We replaced the weary old radiator with a new one and flushed the coolant. We also rehabbed the quad cam engine with new valve cover gaskets. The powerplant is linked to a smooth shifting automatic gearbox. Torque is fed through a fulltime 4WD system, and this Grand HiAce can be enjoyed even when the outside conditions are less than pleasant. It gets up to highway speeds quickly and slows down with confidence. The brakes were flushed to keep the pedal feel tight and tidy. We revamped the ride quality with new shocks KYB at each corner and new front lower ball joints. Freshly aligned, this terrific Toyota tracks straight as an arrow and the power steering is light and easy to articulate. Lastly, we wrapped the 15″ wheels with brand new Toyo all-terrain tires. Freshly aligned, the new rubber quells road noise, looks tough, and will last for tens of thousands of miles to come!
